Everyone else is so busy trying to act all cultured in 70s and 80s music and they haven't realise that TOOL is literally the best band to ever exist (BTW I would say something like beach boys, the doors, velvet underground etc)
BTW surprised if you are talking about 'influential' as 'greatest' that a band like Motley Crue hasn't been mentioned (as big as guns and roses for sure right? I'm not big on figures) |

[ QUOTE ] I think these are in the top 3 Grateful Dead The Doors CCR add Phish if we are talking about personal favorites [/ QUOTE ] lol greatful dead is the most fluffed bunch a [censored] ever and only cuz ur on drugs do u like this crap [/ QUOTE ] Coupled with: [ QUOTE ] lynard skinard, I like the doors but they arent half as good as skinard [/ QUOTE ] Who, exactly, is the one on drugs? But you make an excellent point. A band that managed to amass the most loyal fan base in the history of modern music, going on the road 200 nights a year, selling out arenas, and never playing the same show twice MUST be a horrible band. A band that was in the top 10 grossing bands almost every year they were on tour, despite registering only one top ten hit in their 30+ years together. But keep trolling like the illiterate douche you seem to be. It becomes you. |

All,
Whenever GNR (Axl) decides to drop Chinese Democracy on us all, they will be listed a lot more. I've already heard several of the songs and some of them are mind-blowingly good. T.W.A.T (There Was a Time), and Madagascar are outstanding. Catcher in the Rye, The Blues, Better, and IRS are also very strong songs. If GNR is top 6 or 7 on anyone's list, I suggest you guys go to YouTube and listen to "Madagascar Studio" and "There was a time". This album (Chinese Democracy) will make 3 landmark albums for the band, each with a totally different taste, and each years apart. It's scary that Axl supposedly has another 20 songs developed that won't make C.D. Maybe those will come out in 30 years? |

Pretty funny when you see people bagging Nickelback and Creed whilst loving Metallica in the same thread. If MYV didn't put those names in the bottom of the screen how would you know what crap you were listening to anyway. Kiss [censored] all over Metallica and they weren't even serious. [/ QUOTE ] This is the dumbest thing I have ever read. If Metallica sounds like Nickelback and Creed then Kiss sounds like Run DMC. |

If you count performers instead of "bands" you get to add Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Elvis, Sinatra, Crosby, Jolsen, etc. Maybe some old bands like the Glen Miller Orchestra would also be good choices.
