The people who have cell phone conversations during movies rank near the top of the list for me. This seems to be happening with greater frequency these days.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's because people don't do anything about these atrocities anymore.

Do the world a favor... next time you see someone being a jerk in any of the above-mentioned capacities, call them on the carpet for it.

[/ QUOTE ]

So what's your suggestion? Exacerbate the situation by making a scene in the middle of the movie? Confront the person after the movie? Do you know who is doing this mostly? Young people -- teenagers. People who probably would be more prone to violence over such nonsense than I am. Do you think that's still a good idea?

when you are waiting in a long line and another line opens up right next to it and people from the back of the line try to run up.

snag: I think that has to do with the eating etiquette of the group. If non-regulars are involved, I think that is a douche move. However, if it is a regular crew, a standard basically evolves. In my friend groups, it is that whoever acts first gets it. Now, if there are multiple extra pieces, if someone grabs one, he forfeits his right to the other items. Does that make sense? Like, there is one extra piece of three apps. It's a douche move if dids takes the extra piece for two of them. I am a big fan of the "anyone want this extra piece?" <silence> EAT!

XX: Wow, that is super-douche. I would just ignore the dude and lift. Maybe work a little chuckle in there somewhere.

danza: "I would say it take a special type of person to be polite in the free weight section of the gym." Hmmm, I disagree. Every gym I've worked out at where there are guys serious about lifting, everyone, especially the more hardcore lifters, has been super polite.

All: Probably not really in the same category as most stuff in this thread, but it is to me. I really hate it when I let someone in and they don't give me a wave.

I have real issues with people who jog on the road when there is a beautiful sidewalk not two feet from them. This usually happens in the early morning hours when it's still dark out. These people are asking for an early death.

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe its b/c the sidewalk is concrete and the road is pavement. The concrete is too hard on their legs so the opt for the softer pavement. Just a thought.

[/ QUOTE ]

While you're probably right, it only takes getting hit by a car once to screw up those legs permanantly.

Went to see 2001 at the Silver Theater in DC a month or so ago. Guy a couple rows behind me is there with his 6 or 7-year-old kid. Kid does not shut up for the entire first half of the movie. Asks dad questions every 30 seconds or so ("DID THE BONE GO UP INTO SPACE????"). Dad, instead of shushing him, obligingly answers every question. Lots of people shushing them and angry looks backward. At intermission at least half a dozen people went up to the guy and told him to make the kid STFU or GTFO. Fortunately, he STFU.

[/ QUOTE ]

In this way at least yanks excel. If this had been a cinema of Brits we would have all sat there and put up with it. This is the fundamental reason service is so [censored] in the UK. We are pussies at complaining.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. I have no problem telling people they are idiots or [censored] for legitimate reasons, and quite often I am viewed as being a dick for it. I think that is absolutely ridiculous, and I fully expect to be called an [censored] if I do the same stuff.

group of 4 dining. some appetizer involves 5 pieces, everyone has one and enjoys. guy just dives right in and brazenly scoops up the last piece.

[/ QUOTE ]

If the appetizer was the scooper's idea in the first place, I have no problem with this.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't have much of a problem with this either. Someone has to eat it, and even if he says, "does anyone want this?" you know everyone will say "go ahead" and he will eat it anyway. It's polite to ask, but whatever. This is really tame compared to the other [censored] in this thread.

Inconsiderate bikers. Driving home yesterday had to slow down for a group of three, riding side by side and blocking traffic.

[/ QUOTE ]

Inconsiderate bikers suck, but so do the [censored] who blaze past bikers at 50mph about four inches away.

I'll be biking on the very edge of the right lane at 20-25mph in a 25mph zone, and people will speed up to pass me without moving into the left lane, even if the left lane is empty. [censored].

I hate it when I get to a stop sign at the same time as another car and b/c I am not in any big hurry I decide to wave the guy through. The guy is looking right at me like an idiot and doesn't move even though I am motioning for him to drive. Well, since he won't go I figure someone needs to so I step on the gas and it never fails, as soon as I go it is like something triggers in their pea brain in which they too have to go. We both stop again, rinse repeat, wtf!

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe if you just went when it was your turn none of this would happen. FWIW, if someone at a four-way stop clearly has the right-of-way, I will usually ignore their offer to go first. I think this has to do with my driver ed training from twenty-five years ago.
