I think that has to be the most ridiculous game of cricket I've ever seen. Ireland 114-7, nail-biting tension, why? Because they need all of 15 runs off 70 balls to win!!!! Absurd, and yet everyone knew they're so bad that it was actually possible they'd lose from there. Hugely embarassing for Pakistan, and it's gotta be the biggest upset in World Cup history. The Pakistani papers should make interesting reading tomorrow.

[ QUOTE ]
This could be a great day for England - if Bangladesh and Ireland make it through to the next round then there are effectively 6 teams playing for 4 semi-final places (no offence). [/ QUOTE ] I completely agree about Ireland, but am not so sure about Bangladesh. The Bangladesh bowlers are good and batsmen are really good as well. The young stars show no fear and their aggressive style could just keep them in. However, being realistic, and with strong teams like NZ, SA, AUS, and SL surely in the 2nd round, it'll be very hard for them to go through. I'm seriously sick that India lost right now however. That was such a horrible collapse after Singh's dissmissal. It's going to be very very hard now for India to go through. They have to win against Bermuda with a huge RR and then hope they win against SL. Super Eights is gonna be sick though cause some of the top teams are playing sooo good right now that their matches will be greatly appreciated. |

The Pakistani papers should make interesting reading tomorrow. [/ QUOTE ] That's putting it mildly. Sadly, there will be player's houses egged and effigies burned. The same will likely occur in India even though they are still not officially out of the tourney. It's a tough ask for them to now qualify though. To have a chance, they must win the next two games. If they do, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh may all end up with 4 points in their group. One of them then gets knocked out based on net run rate. Sri Lanka is way ahead right now on that basis by virtue of their hammering of Bermuda. Basically, India is out unless they hammer Bermuda in addition to beating Sri Lanka. So, no India and no Pakistan in the super 8s is the most likely result. Television's (and my) worst mightmare. Somewhere in this thread, someone posted that John Davison of Canada *briefly* held the WC record for fastest century. I thought he still held that record. Who broke it? |

However, you've got to admit that Pakistan played HORRIBLY this match and they deserved to lose based on the Ireland performance. It truly is a great defeat for Pakistan cause they have been in a huge losing streak and their team and staff are getting criticized highly. First off, you'll see Bob Woolmer and all the whities will get fired. You'll see Inzi lose his captaincy and a lot of the people lose their positions (Naved Ul Rana, Kamran Akmal, and probably both the opening batsmen.) Then, a Pakistani coach will be instilled and they'll sill be bad because of the ridiculous amount of politics going on in team selection. You've got so much talent in U-19 (U-19 WC winners against India ) but no one is going up through the ranks because of politics. Until all this ends, Pakistan will be in array for a while now. |

The Pakistani papers should make interesting reading tomorrow. [/ QUOTE ] As someone mentioned above, it'll be worse than this. I'd be fearing for my safety if i was one of the Pakistani team. Same with India if they don't win the next two matches by big margins. |

The retribution in India has started. Wicketkeeper Dhoni's house targeted.
http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/41534.html I shudder to think what is happening in Pakistan right now. |
