So, I'm trying to apply for some internships/jobs for this summer possibly next year/next summer.
What type of things should you put on your resume if you attend college and don't have very much REAL work experience. I'm a Finance/Accounting major and I guess it's good that I've worked at banks as a teller. Should you just include clubs that your in? highschool stats? Fraternity stuff? I'm kind of confused and stuck because I'm using a resume template through word but its asking for like profession experience plus academic status... any and all help appreciated! |

general rule of thumb - try to pull HS crap unless that is all you have. put up what you can with work experience because being a teller is better than being nothing.
hopefully, you'll have held some leadership positions in clubs, been really involved with some silly school crap, etc. companies really dig those kind of activities in their very green potential interns. |

You can write in OSU as the team that handed Florida the national championship in football and almost lost to Xavier today.
All jokes aside, there were bunch of resume advices in OOT/ELD forums. I'm also a student and have benefited their suggestions. Be honest. I am sure you can think of some good qualities that you've demonstrated before. Volunteer experience? |

I had a roomate that wrote really good resumes. One thing he use to do was write about his favorite courses. In a short amount of space he described courses he'd taken, projects he'd worked on, and what sort of stuff interested him. All very useful information for people without (and with for that matter) a lot of work experience.

I hear it looks good if you know how to use Google. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case for you.

Until I started having real jobs, I used a couple college projects as "jobs" in my Resume. For example, I used "engineering design project member," and then all of my bullet points were about the project we did. I have no idea if this is a good idea or not, but it's a suggestion anyway.

I would not put anything fraternity related. When I was applying for internships a few years ago I was a fraternity president and wrote up some stuff to make it sound good. The first question every business asked was 'so is this an academic or social fraternity?' and it definitely wasnt a positive thing to most people.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, of course I can use google, which I did OBV, but what does that do for me? It's good to hear real people's experiences and pros/cons, especially on a forum you visit frequently and they probably have the same interests. I shouldn't even be typing this response because your comments are unneeded and show stupidity at its finest. But yeah, I *guess* I could just use google and read a bunch of peoples resumes, but why not get it condensed from a big population into one place? |

[/ QUOTE ] Believe it or not, I'm from cincinnati, and was raised an XU fan. I was torn today for which team to root for. I actually picked XU over OSU in my poll. My dad was almost having a heart attack today. In the end I wanted XU to pull it through, but am not disappointed OSU won. After all they have a better chance at the National Champ. And that Football National Championship game don't wanna talk about it |
