In 183 PokerStars tournaments this year, I've had only one final table. Over the previous two years I'm a winning tournament player with a ROI above 50% and final table rate of 5.2%.

Given that final table rate, what are the chances that I've had only 1 final table this year.

Below is a table based on final table %. For each % is the % chance that I would only make one (or less) final table.

5% -- 0.089%
4% -- 0.491%
3% -- 2.527%
2.5% -- 5.535%
2% -- 11.740%
1% -- 45.275%

So if you accept my final table rate is 5%, the odds of my only having 1 final table is less than 1 in 10,000!!

One factor mitigating this is that I know that the PokerStars tournaments I've been playing in this year have had larger fields (around 650) than my average (around 400). So my final table % should not be 5%. But even if we say that it is 3%, my chances of having only one final table are 1 in 40.

Given that this losing streak is over a 3 month period, that means that this losing streak is at least a one in every ten years event!
