It pretty much guarantees that for each net you donate you save at least one life. I actually organized a fundraiser at my school for nothing but nets. It's a great cause. Malaria is the leading cause of death among Africans, and mosquito nets help to prevent the transmission of the disease. For $10~ you can send a net over to Africa. I did stuff with the basketball team where they got pledges from people for each shot they made within an allotted time period. It worked out nicely. I say its a worthy cause!

I think way too many people were taken and hurt (namely Mrs. and Baby Vig) for this to go unpunished and be disregarded. There are a LOT of witnesses on this board who can vouch for exactly what happened and I imagine that Mrs. Vig would testify (although maybe not, she has been through a lot of distress I'm sure). I don't feel like stealing the money was premeditated but it's pretty sickening nonetheless.
Gild, don't blame yourself, everything seemed legit from your POV, there is no way you could know this would have happened. If it went ok, you would have been doing a good thing to help people. And finally, if nothing else, we can just send Txredman.
