I'm getting a "final" written warning which contains a completely slanted description of the call and the way it was handled. If there's ever another similar incident of the same magnitude I'll be terminated. But I've only got 3 weeks left. I rarely get a call like this so I can probably make it.

Seriously, being late twice in five years and handling one call not up to company standards and you could get fired? Do you work for PartyPoker customer support? |

BF --
That sucks. I'm 99.9% sure I know who you are now (unfortunately, knowing your department like I do, they'll probably fire you.) They've done so in the past for similar things (though it sounded like you handled this particular call fairly well.) I would talk to various people you've worked with over the past 5 years who would be willing to give a recommendation. Because you've been on the overnight for so long that there is 1 obvious person. Get that lined up now, because it will be easier to get their contact info while still employed (PM me if you need anything else...) Elwoodblues |

OP has worked there for 5+ yrs. How has he not learned that this can't possibly be a big deal? [/ QUOTE ] I've worked there a tad longer, and OP is right that he faces a very good chance of being terminated. |

elwood - that's just wacky because it doesn't sound like he even did anything THAT wrong?
does sound like he was being kind of a tool just a little bit? But not that big a deal that a long-time employee should get fired over. but the exchange of, "What's your last name?" "Anything else I can help you with?" "What's you last name?" is all kind of silly. Just tell him your freaking name already. Yeah, so he said it in a professional tone instead of yelling at the guy (like he was probably being yelled at) but it still seems a bit douchey. Definitely not worth firing over though. That's just weird. What a horrible place that must be to work. |

[/ QUOTE ] You are allowed to put your own version into personnel files in most places. You are also allowed to sign a write-up while noting on the same page that you do not agree with it. I'd do both these things if I were you. Otherwise, the slanted write-up will become the official truth of the matter, and your lack of written objection and explanation may in fact be notable. If you do write something, be sure you write it so that it's a clear statement of the facts, like the most reasonable person in the world would make it. Don't put any rancor in it or speculation on motives, etc. That would just undermine you. |
