HB, good thread. I always find this kind of stuff interesting since I will never see one of these places myself. Nice description.

If I were a guy I'm sure I would try it at least once! The main thing that would concern me is disease. I am paranoid about that kind of stuff. I think I would have too many anxieties to enjoy myself.

One time a friend of mine was describing his experience in a brothel to me. I wanted him to tell me what it was like. The only thing I remember him saying is how rushed he felt. He said the girl was obviously not into it at all and really rushed him. In your experience is this common?

[/ QUOTE ]

That happens sometimes but at these places you've already paid for a block of time so there is no need to rush. The opposite is actually the case for those of us who get 'ultra-excited', as it were. Howard, to be sure, doesn't have that problem. Much.

BTW: Just in case curiosity overcomes you some day I hereby volunteer to take you to an Asian Massage Parlor. You have to come to Phoenix (or pay my way to where you are). I guaranty that you will be in no danger whatsoever either from my cuddly and adorable self or from the ladies of the house who will treat you well.

You're so digusting, in addition to being some sort of psuedo-spiritualist.

I hope I never run into you IRL.

BTW, if you haven't guessed, I completely disagree with your behavior. People keep hinting at the larger negative consequences of your behavior (promotion of the sex slave trade, allocation of tax-dollars to fight prostitution, emotional scarring, etc), but you invariably skirt the issues in favor of letting everyone know what a competent and caring john you are.

And, hey, you like to get off with strangers for cash. If you like it, it must be right, right?

Loser.

why do you even frequent these forums? you seem like the anti-OOT.

I can't help but wonder about the situation in the US, particularly NYC, for a few reasons

I work near Chinatown in NYC and often see signs for massages, acupressure, etc. I have gone into a few of them and the ones I've seen do not perform anything sexual - unless I'm just too oblivious to notice.

Also, I once came close to representing someone known as Madam Ping, who was fairly famous in the Chinatown area. She was famous because she was involved in smuggling immigrants from overseas. And when I was being interviewed to represent her, I learned that the process usually resulted in the immigrants becoming workers, or slaves, once they arrived in this country. They were not necessarily coerced physically - though some may have been. It was simply a financial deal: the immigrants understood that they had to work in order to pay for the price of getting into this country.

Anyway, that is the background to my questions.

[/ QUOTE ]

In NYC all of the places I'm talking about were not in street level store fronts. Check out the ads in the Voice for the sex places.

As for the smuggled immigrants:

It's fairly common knowledge that the deal is that they have to work off their passage. The basements of Chinatown are a warren of sweatshops that would shock America if fully revealed.

You have ALREADY run into 'me' IRL. Hundreds of thousands of times. Everytime you walk out your front door, ride the bus, go to work, meet a customer or attend Thanksgiving dinner.

Are you surprised at the TV news when you see the celebrity entering rehab, the politician accept bribes, the priest molest children, the neighbor who murders his family, the quiet guy who is caught after 15 years as a serial killer? No one, and I mean NO ONE, knows what is going on inside the head of another person or what they may be doing when no one is looking. I've lived long enough to realize that anybody is capable of anything ranging from the horrific to the sublime. And that includes you.

I'm guessing you're young. Open your eyes and get back to me in 30 years when you've lived for a while.

A few quick points and then I am done with this thread.

First of all, Howard, you are straight-up creepy.

Secondly, I agree with your point that what lurks in the shadows of a man's mind no one else can ever know. BUT, that has nothing to do with my criticism. I am criticizing conscious behavior. I am criticizing your rational choice to engange in what I consider to be a pretty gross hobby.

Thirdly, God forbid I am similar to you in any way in thirty years. You are disgusting.

Two things: I have to agree with El Duque's point that although we are all people with many sides, and everyone has some that shouldn't be brought out to light, that doesn't mean any single person has no moral responsibility for his own choices. To think otherwise would be to join the camp of those who, say, are willing to say crooks aren't really responsible for their actions because they had a tough childhood.

Second, I don't think these massage parlors are as immune to the slave trade as Howard seems to. It appears to me that certainty on that one way or the other is actually more taking an ideological stance than anything else. Doubtless Howard has met willing prostitutes, but there's no guarantee they all were or that they all will be. I doubt anyone could really tell, a lot of the times, anyway. I'm sure the sex slaves sometimes put on whatever attitude they need to keep them from being either beaten, fined by their keepers, or just to keep from going insane.

M2d,

Thanks for that link; I had forgotten about the series. Very eye-opening.
