We have all known that what we've been doing is technically illegal...and we've all known that the government (all government, but especially the US Politburo) doesn't give a rat's ass about anything EXCEPT WHEN IT COMES TO THEIR TAX DOLLARS. That they will go after like so many hungry wolves on an overturned steak truck. About the only thing the US government likes more than tax dollars is INFORMATION--especially information on it's citizens.

[/ QUOTE ]

If this was the case all they had to do was legalize it and enjoy the huge tax revenues. I think guys like Frist are much more concerned with pushing their religious morals on everyone else.

One of the largest contribution to the Frist campaign was Harrahs corp !!!

I am another US citizen frozen in Neteller. I just went to the site and clicked on the important US update link, which
took me to the "refer a friend" page. That is sicker than a one outer at the river.

Once you get redirected to the wrong page you can click the US UPDATE at the bottom, but that page has not been updated since the 8th so nothing to read really.

I finally got a response. I just thought I'd share it with you for anyone wondering about your balance showing $0 ...

My email:
[ QUOTE ]
I made a withdrawal on Feb 2, 2007 for the amount of $x. I have not yet received the funds, yet my balance in my Neteller account is showing a $0.00 balance.

I am a US customer and I am aware of the recent events. Why is my account showing a $0.00 balance if you are still holding my funds?

[/ QUOTE ]

Their response:

Thank you for your E-mail. The reason why you can not see your funds on your NETELLER account is because they were put in trust accounts to be held until we can figure out a way to send our clients their funds back. As soon as we figure this out we should be posting an update at updates.neteller.com for our clients to read and stay informed.

Should you have any questions...

Any chance they will waive the $2 check fee?

Funny, the same voices who said "The US Government can't touch Neteller since they are a foreign company" a year ago are now the staunchest proponents of "we are XX% sure to get our money from Neteller since they are "blah blah blah." You guys who are saying this need to add a disclaimer that your posts are based on mostly wishful thinking.

andywend,

I don't claim to be any more knowledgeable about Neteller than anyone else, but I do have faith in them in terms of their returning money to all their members, in due early course. (I accept this is based mainly on their being authorised by the FSA, and knowing personally through what hoops one has to jump to become authorised.)

Unless they have been running a fraud on an absolutely massive scale, with the knowledge and assistance of many employees, accountants, banks, etc, they have all money belonging to their members, fully intact. Why they can't or won't release this, immediately, is a matter for speculation, at this moment.

The longer they hold onto US members' money, without releasing a full explanation, the more damage to their credibility occurs, and their other members throughout the world get more nervous and move their money out. A slippery slope of which they are obviously fully aware. If they hold onto US members' funds for more than six weeks, I doubt if they will ever recover to be the big name they were. On the other hand, if there is some strange but reasonable logistical problem that they have, owing to what has suddenly happened, and they solve this and start moving money very soon, the opposite may happen, and confidence in their business ethics should be completely restored, (as far as the rest of the world is concerned).

Whatever happens over the next few weeks will be a major learning experience for just about every company, and, indeed, every individual, in the world.

Mike,

After what point in the future do you think you would say, "I don't think neteller will ever return the money." ??
