I loled at the thread title.

Me too, no way Gold has any idea what "Meta Game" is.

I have no frame of reference save HSP. I really didn't follow his WSOP play or his past history. I guess if you know enough about him you could be certain this is not a set-up but I figure there might be someone out there clever enough to use HSP to sandbag the pros.

If you mean in terms of integrity, sportsmanship, humility, friendliness, and overall likeability, then I agree. If you mean in terms of poker skill (especially their WSOP performances), then I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

i don't know much about varkoni, but i have to imagine they are a completely different kind of "bad" so that you can't really compare them.

Think about it one level deeper and you'll get it. It's nearly impossible to play that bad, so it requires great talent in poker. He was losing some other peoples' monies, and setting up future games for himself.

The same with Victor, all up to the final catastrophe just before leaving the table.

Daniel did that earlier succesfully, and it used to be kinda money right after, so everyone is doing it now. Winning big used to be the industry standard, then everybody started losing. So actually winning is kinda money again.

Wrong on several accounts. 1, he's not going to "retire" to some island any time soon, he's a total action junkie; I predict he's going to continue to play poker to try to prove to people his WSOP win was no fluke (which it was, obv). I think it's also quite possible that he's not too happy now, you can tell from his actions and words that he desperately seeks the approval of those around him, and we are just starting to see the poker community reject him wholesale.

2, um, what? Seems like a nice enough guy? He's an egotistical, borderline-unethical loudmouth. I think you're speaking for a pretty small minority by wishing him luck.

well first off i dont want to get into an internet messageboard war with you.

i cant say anything about his future plans so that was purely speculative on my part.

i dont agree with egotisitical after seeing him on hsp. he seemed pretty normal. yeah he crossed the line with "top top" but that was 8 months ago. big deal. as for the loudmouth thing, well i enjoyed the aba shush as much as anyone but most of the players on hsp are loudmouths its why they are on tv in the first place. anyway, hes not a great poker player i agree. but im not gonna hate a guy for the rest of my life cos he got lucky and some cards fell his way.
