I'm not sophisticated enough to bet w/o knowing my cards. That's why I play for peanuts though.

jesus i had no idea phil gordon is such a complete and total douchbag. He comes off as an insecure little girl who wont shut the f up. He is my new most annoying poker player. I cant stand him. [/ QUOTE ] He is a fool, he thinks he is better than he is, he is VERY good at math, but his poker skills are about average. My favorite player at the table is obv Gabe Kaplan. |

michael konik needs to STFU and play cards, nobody cares what he has to say. [/ QUOTE ] Still not as bad as Gordon constantly prodding the other players for information about their hands. Both Gordon and Konik seem very out of place at this table... they are overly tense compared to the other four. |

Gordon's style has, as far as I can tell, to protray weakness early(his table talk) to strong agresive towards the end. It shouldnt work against this field but you never know at a poker table. btw, I voted for C Brown. |

[ QUOTE ]
Chad made a heck of a read to outplay Howard w/ KQ vs 10-10. [/ QUOTE ] I give props to Chad Brown. It was a very obvious read, but still a difficult play to make. Lederer's fault for butchering the hand. If he'd just raised it like any sensible non-nit would, he would have seen a flop. There's really no hand he limps preflop in that situation that dominates Brown's KQ, or that can call a push, so Brown's play is obvious, but still gutsy. [ QUOTE ] Give Gabe credit for reading weakness in Howard's flop bet and trying to make a move by leading on 4th street. [/ QUOTE ] After hearing a ton of Gabe commentary on HSP, and seeing him play on live at the bike/hsp/poker after dark, I'm pretty certain he's just a donk. When he's right it might look cool, but the fact remains he wouldn't play an ace like that ever, and Howard figured that out. [ QUOTE ] But the fact that Howard saw through it and could smooth call the turn bet knowing he'd have to then "value bet" the river (and expose more chips). Wow. Very well done. [/ QUOTE ] I think Howard's played pretty horribly, and doesn't deserve accolades. His horrible play with 1010 in the blinds, his overall nitiness. He made a good read on this hand, but still screwed it up by just calling the turn bet instead of raising. The problem being that Howard can't beat a bluff, so he can't call a river bet even if he thinks Kaplan is bluffing. If Kaplan ever fires a third barrel Howard has to give up on the hand. If he thinks Kaplan is weak he needs to raise the turn, while he still has enough chips to bluff. This has the added bonus of denying Kaplan a free card if he has a weak pair/draw. |

[/ QUOTE ] that's a donk with 7 wsop final tables, including a 2nd in 2005, and a 3rd at a wpt event (a real one). on that hand with howard i'm sure he would have bet and taken down the pot had the river been anything other than a sencond ace. |

[ QUOTE ]
that's a donk with 7 wsop final tables, including a 2nd in 2005, and a 3rd at a wpt event (a real one). [/ QUOTE ] No way of telling how good he is without knowing how many tournaments he's played since 1979. Even then, plenty of donks have good tournament credentials. Regardless, his hand analysis on hsp is pretty horrible. [ QUOTE ] on that hand with howard i'm sure he would have bet and taken down the pot had the river been anything other than a sencond ace. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure whether or not he bluffs the river, but that's the problem with Howard just calling on the turn instead of raising. He can't rebluff the river if Kaplan fires a third barrel. Given how Gabe seems to play, I don't think he ever plays an ace like this. He either takes a check/call line, or check raises the flop/turn. I don't think he'd ever check/call the flop and then lead turn, unless he did it as a blocking bet. His bet size wasn't really blocking betish though, so the hand made no sense. |
