Judging someone's socioeconomic status by the car they drive can be a poor metric. Very common for people who worked their way through life and earned a lot of money through hard work to drive beaters like this. Others just don't want the attention.

Sounds like you're in the wrong more than he is. All he did was back up to get that spot. Your mom sounds like a real winner with a lot of class judging by her reaction. I doubt he will do anything, but who knows...he may have contacts in the DMV or some other way to legally make your life a living hell for being a douchebag when all he wanted was an apology.

I'll chime in in agreement with those who said flipping people off is a pretty bad idea. Tell your mom she's not 17 anymore. As it is, I don't know what to do. I wouldn't worry about it though.

You said she drives a Blazer, not a TANK. Tell her she's not invincible in her SUV. Seems so many people think this.

The funny thing is, that is exactly how I felt. Like who cares. It's a lady giving you the finger. Like get over it. If you harm a 50 year old woman, will you feel better about yourself? Will that make you sleep better. Way to be a big man, I'm sure your parents and friends are proud.

Okay so let me get this straight, you are saying that if a woman gives you the finger, when you almost hit her, and you ask her for an apology and she says no you have the right to make her life a living hell? And that makes you the winner? I'm not debating that her act wasn't childish, but that logic is sad, very sad.

And mr. scotchnrocks, I wasn't judging him, I was just assesing the situation. Your theory on him not wanting attention is wrong because if he didn't want attention he wouldn't have spent money on an exhaust that could be heard 100 feet away and on extremely ugly rims. That would well, not make very much sense.

You left out the part where he almost hit ya'll.

He seemed to have acted reasonable by asking why you had to flip him off. All your mom had to say was sorry it's been a long day, etc. and it would have been over with right there. Instead she continues with her douchbaggery and the guy obviously gets upset.

You didn't give me that information at first. But now I agree that he's pretty much a nobody. You and your mom could have still shown a little decency instead of escalating the situation.

Miami,

Is there some other method of parking that you know about?

Stop, reverse, park.

Giving people the finger is fine, they usually deserve it. Some idiot kept honking at me while I was going 35 through a school zone while christmas holidays were going on. So I finally flicked the guy off and the jackass speeds up in front of me, cuts me off and stops. Then he gets out of his van and he ends up being a policeman. At this point I think oh crap, but I am very curious what is going to happen. The guy starts whining about how I probably feel really smart right now and I'll think next time before I flick someone off.

I just nodded and agreed, but I believe he was in the wrong I was not posing a danger, he was not in an area where his police force worked, and he was not in a policecar while he stopped traffic in the middle of the street. He couldn't give me a ticket because he obviously would have if it was legal because he hated me obviously. I got great pride while I watched his fat ass walk back to the car accomplishing nothing.

Moral of the story: I hate cops, flick people off if you feel like it.

Um according to the OP he pulled out of the parking spot and sped to where the OP was parking and asked them what the problem was, they chose to ignore him (rightly so) and then he gets all psycho on them. Do you really think he would have kept being "reasonable" had they responded?

I probably would have called the police as soon as this happened. Either that or pepper sprayed him when he approached my car, then call the cops.
