Monday 7pm tourney at the horseshoe $65 buy in with $40 rebuys [/ QUOTE ] Starting chips are 800, 5-15 blinds, 30 minute levels. You can re-buy anytime you have 800 or less and if you go to the felt you can double re-buy for 1600 chips. After the first 3 levels, 1 1/2 hours, you can single or double add-on regardless of chip count. The tourney has a $2000 guarantee first place but its up in the $4000 or higher most of the time. Expect 70-100 players. It's the best in town IMO. The other 2 are craps shoots with low starting chips, high blinds, and 15 minute levels with slow dealers. The Gold Strike re-buy is 2000 chips, or 4000 with the re-buy. Blinds start at 25-50 and go up quick. 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, 200-400, ect. Do NOT play without the re-buy. I personally don't play because of the structure. The Grand is the same way. Bad, bad, bad, structure. |

Right.
Supply and demand. People will actually pay 60+20 to enter a tourney. And if you were to tell these players that you think it's a rip-off because of the rake and that 60+10 would be more reasonable they would think of you as a total 'nit' and say "dude...it's only $10. It's not a big difference?" I played a 175+25 event there at the WSOP-circuit and had to convince myself to do it just to get some live tourney experience in (I'm spoiled by the low rake of online-poker and know that I'm a bit of a nit on such things). |
