Yea, this is just high school girls being stupid and being enamored with someone in a position of authority who isn't like 50 years old. I also teach and I'm young, and I've also heard similar comments like these. B I know that girls this age aren't thinking clearly because I am without a doubt one of the ugliest motherf*ckers on the planet on pretty much any objective scale of beauty.
To test to see if you really are 'hot', go to any mall and try to pick up high school-aged girls. You'll probably fail.

i am always uncomfortable when i am around my younger female cousin's friends. i feel like i have to go out of my way to keep from being nice, funny, etc. do not even like making long eye contact or smiling at them because they are always too flirtacious. i look forward to when she is in college however.
my older brother is a highschool teacher and when he first started he told me how bizarre it was when students would overtly try to flirt with him. he said though after a while he just stopped noticing it or paying any attention and it got a lot less weird and became a non-issue. he has told me about seeing former students out after they graduated and how they pretty much came onto him. but he was then dating at the time so didn't take advantage of it. OP, just be the cool teacher without being creepy, then reap the rewards of 19-21 year-olds for years to come.
