[ QUOTE ] Not sure if this is a good indicator but I got a 650 on my Gmat and a 1290 on the SAT (old version) What could I reasonably expect to get on the lsat? [/ QUOTE ] I was once told to take your Verbal SAT, add a 1 in front, and drop the 0 off the end. That's your base goal. (650 SAT becomes 165 LSAT). Ended up being exactly correct for me. [/ QUOTE ] That's amazing, as it corresponds to exactly my SAT/LSAT score. Freaky. Anyway, LSAT is a test of test-taking. The best way to ace it is to do as many practice tests as poossible. I did about 30. The key is to be able to do the hard problems fast and the easy problems instantaneously. Kaplan/PR = pretty big time waste of money. |

I did pretty well taking taking a practice test for a prop bet on little sleep and with no preparation...it's definitely way harder than the SAT, but I think anyone reasonbly smart who takes the time to prepare can score in the high 160s at least.
It's a pretty fun test actually. |

Everyone,
Thanks for the thoughts and reponses. They are greatly appreciated. I have recieved some very helpful PMs too, so thanks to those people. After revieweing my friend's LSAT study guide today, I realize the logic game are where I will do the worst, if I were to take the test tomorrow. Frankly, the other parts of the test seem easy and self-explanatory, but the logic games sort of put me in fits. I don't really know where or how to start attacking them. Any advice to prepare for these in the next 20 days? Remember, taking a class is not realisitic, as far as I can tell none are offered at this time of year in the next 20 days. Thanks again everyone, Mcshove. |

I mean, you still sorta can to some schools, but they won't like that you're applying so late in the cycle. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Especially since "delaying the real world" arguments don't apply because law school is harder than the working world. [/ QUOTE ] First year, maybe, but probably not. I'm pretty sure that people who go from being 3Ls to working at big NY firms don't find the transition relaxing. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I agree with this. I'm a 1L straight outta undergrad, so its tough for me to see some of my friends working the 9-5 with weekends to themselves. [/ QUOTE ] They are either not lawyers, goverment workers, or broke (maybe even all of the above) if this is the case. |

My advice, FWIW, is to buy every available *REAL* LSAT (avoid wasting your time with Princeton Review's or Kaplan's or whomever's own simulated LSATs), and take them under real conditions. [/ QUOTE ] I teach for Princeton Review. Our diagnostic exams and class workbooks only contain real LSAT questions licensed to us by LSAC. [ QUOTE ] If you're going to take a review course, take Testmasters. Their method is superior to PR's and Kaplan's, and all of their instructors scored in the 98th or 99th percentile. [/ QUOTE ] I've heard this from several sources and I call BS. Nobody I have ever challenged has been able to name one difference (let alone one advantage) to Testmaster's method over the Princeton Review. Feel free to prove me wrong. |

Thanks again everyone, Mcshove. [/ QUOTE ] Do every logic game you can find. There are only about seven total types iirc. Once you figure out how to set up the generic form, the game section will become your easiest section by far. This will just take brute force repetition. Most people who are even mildly quantitative start out with the games being their hardest section and concluding with being very upset at missing one question in the section. |

I wonder if the LSAT has seen a noticeable increase in perfomance on the games section since the Sudoku craze started. I remember the games on the test requiring very similar deduction skills.
