Tough one, Gobboboy.

Still, congratulations!! For me, at least, you brought some major excitement last night. My F5 button is loose. Everybody do a Gobbodance!

Wow, talk about disappointed...I've never seen anyone be that unhappy to win $700k. Still, I know where he's coming from.

once you are heads up second place money is locked up. essentially you are then playing a winner takes all for the remaining money. by finishing second, then, you get zero dollars. that, along with the fact that gobbo was a monster chip leader and outplaying everybody provides the makings for disappointment in the nth degree. hansen got hit in the face with the cards--just look at the hands he was making: flush, straight, etc. gobbo was the better player at that table and he knows it. losing feels disgusting.

impressive performance, gobbo, against seasoned pros.

I think I'd be very bummed too if I didn't win.

As rothko said, each player is guaranteed $1mil aussie dollars when it gets to heads-up, so basically the tournament becomes a heads-up match for $500k aussie, which is a MASSIVE amount of $$$ to play for, especially between two world-class players.

After watching the interview, it is fairly obvious gobbo was at a loss for words and generally bummed over the outcome.

Jimmy- look at the bright side. You are 19 years old. SOOOOOOO many poker players would sacrifice a lot to be in the situation you were in. You battled through a field of some of the world's best players and finished behind one of them. I know you have great expectations for yourself, but honestly, you just won $1mil Aussie Dollars, are 19 years old, and have a lifetime of poker playing ahead of you.

I know you will be bummed for a little while, but please do realize you are pretty much on top of the poker world right now and you aren't even of legal age to play in most states yet . Keep your head up and ask for your money in $1 bills so you can fill a swimming pool with them .

CONGRATULATIONS YOU JUST WON A BOATLOAD OF MONEY!!!!!!! AAHHHHHHHHHHHH

This hand ideally should have ended it:

An amazing call leads to another river suckout
No Limit Hold 'em
Jan 19, 2007 / 04:20:47 EDT
Gus Hansen bet 425k and Jimmy Fricke called.

Flop Jd10d10h
Fricke checked
Hansen bet 500k and Fricke immediately moved all in for 4.3m. Hansen began talking to himself, "I could be up against that...I could be up against that...this could be the worst call ever...he could have that...he could have that...wow...wow...I call."

Jimmy Fricke KdQc
Gus Hansen AhKh

Hansen made a huge call and is in the lead. A 9 is the only card that can help Fricke unless he makes runner-runner. The turn brought the 10s and a Q will also give Fricke the pot. The river 9c gave Fricke yet another river suck-out giving Fricke a straight.

It doesn't look like he outplayed Gus HU though - like he said in the interview, he felt a bit out of his depth HU that deep.

Jimmy,

remember, if you bring more than 10k back to the US you have to write it on the back of your immigration form. i know you'll have all 700k stuffed in your pockets so dont forget!
