Interesting standard hand. Have not played much with villain
but no one is superaggressive. He calls a lot from sb and usually bet when checked to on the flop. 100$ stacks Hero is bb 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] sb call I check flop 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] i check villain bet 2 i raise to 5 villain calls pot 12$ turn 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I bet 10 villain calls pot 32 river 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check villain bets 20. What to do? |

I bet $16 on the river, if your checking you check to induce a bluff so you would call the river. Im not sure calling here is appopriate because you didnt provide much of a read on villain.

You only have to win at least 27.7% on the river to make it a good call .
There are some opponents you know for sure may have you beat . Then there are times against other opponents where you're a significant favourite . It really is read dependent but if you think you'll win at least 27.7% then you should make the call . In other words , for every 7 hands that has you beat , you need to have around 3 hands that are winning . |

What about the play before the river. My problem is tha im building a pot oop. I really dont know if this is good. I dont like the small chekraise on the flop giving him odds to play every hand. But its the same dilemma, a higher raise build a bigger pot. What is the right play here?

Flop play is fine because this is such a dry board and you said he likes to stab when checked to so its hard to imagine him not stabbing this flop. Id raise it to 6 tho not 5.

Your turn bet is very weak so I call. I think he could just be floating. What are you trying to accomplish with your small turn bet?

Oh I misread it. Thought pot was $32 before him betting which there's no way it could have been.

I would check call the river. I think he either has a monster or very little (the only exception being a higher 8). At 100NL, 50/50 to each.
