When I was in high school I picked the winner of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship 4 years in a row (out of the 64 teams) - knowing absolutely nothing about college basketball:
Kansas ('88), Michigan ('89), UNLV ('90), and Duke ('91). |

I just want to know how Rainman managed to snag such a hot wife. IMO, that is much more of an improbability.

The most likely explanation is that someone else put it in a solved state, or close to it, without telling you. You then picked it up and made a few moves that put it in the solved state. This would have relatively high probability. [/ QUOTE ] Zero probability. No one has touched it since it was given to me but me. It's in my house. [ QUOTE ] Perhaps it was solved when you got it, or close to it, and all of your rotations have only caused you to reach a relatively small number of different states, including any attempt you may have made to "mix up" the sides. [/ QUOTE ] It was cleary severely mixed up when it was given to me. I have rotated it many hundreds of times at random. I simply don't see how your second theory is possible. It's not like I've only been rotating only one face or something. I'm not that OCD. |

I was dealt 77, 88, 77 in a row the other day. Odds of this aren't astronomical, but not that common.
Funny thing was I flopped sets with all of them. Anyone guess the odds of that? |

[/ QUOTE ] Odds of getting a pocket pair = 1/17 Odds of flopping a set, assuming you see a flop 100% of the time with a pocket pair = (1-(48/50)(47/49)(46/48)) ~= 2/17 So, 8/17^6 ~= 1/3,017,196 |

Friend of mine got 3 birdies in a row on Saturday. All very tough narrow water holes. Two par 4s and one 5. Never played with someone who has done that.
Then he tripled the super easy par 3. LAWL |

The most improbable thing I've evr seen?
Three squirrels on a tree branch going at it, running the train, doogy style. I looked at them, they looked at me. There was awkward pause, and then they resumed activity. |

Maybe not that improbable but I've never seen it since. In high school I was talking with a buddy in a dorm room. He was in sitting in the top bed in a bunk bed and had a half-filled coke can on one of the corners. He accidentally knocked it off and it fell and landed on the floor on its bottom-side, without spilling one drop.
