I used to be a technical trainer and we used these in our main office. It is a personal preference thing and I never became comfortable with it, so I second the notion of these not being as useful.

The one Phil is using is the Gyration Air Mouse.
I've been using one for a few years. I don't like it for poker, but I use it for almost everything else. I keep three different mice hooked up and switch between them to prevent pain in my wrist ... the Gyration is the one I use most, followed by the Evoluent vertical mouse. I bought a package with both the mouse and keyboard. The mouse is great but the keyboard went in the trash within a few hours. |
