Dude, Mr. OP-man, you have to realize that you're posting this in the wrong place.

All of the people who are attacking you on this thread are actually being defensive. You've scared them a little bit.

Maybe they're gambling addicts. Or maybe people in their lives THINK they are doing (or are capable of doing, or inevitably will do) what you did, and judging them negatively for it. Their anger and rudeness is simply an expression of their their own insecurities and fears (both social and monetary), and you shouldn't take them personally.

Anyway, if I were you I would just copy and paste your OP into a new thread at: http://www.psychforums.com/viewforum.php?f=204

Good luck!

p.s. I was joking in my previous post. More gambling is not going to be a solution for you. Good luck.

Mods, if I am posting this in the wrong forum feel free to move/delete it. This is a serious post, and I am honestly not a troll. I know I will get made fun of and flamed but if I can help save one person from making the same mistakes that I did, than this post was worth it. Now, onto the story.

Hello, my name is Scott. I am from Houston TX. Everything was fine up until the summer of 2005. I had never been in a casino, never even played poker before. One day I was flipping through the channels and saw a poker show on TV. During the program, a commercial for an online poker site came on. I decided to check it out. After a while at the play money site, i soon switched to the real money site. I set up NETeller and was ready to play. OK, I made a $50 deposit, lost it quickly, another $50, lost it again. I only had about $200 in my checking account mind you. I then withdrew the remaining $100 and built that up to around $500! I was stoked! I got cocky and moved up to 10-20. Not only did I lose it, but I lost it fast. Well, that was it, I had no more money in my account so I was done gambling for the day, right? Wrong... Little did I know NETeller (and every other similar site) GIVES you credit! They give you money in advance to gamble with! I had $550.00 available so I took it, and I ran that up to 1K playing that blackjack game that the poker site had! Then, I lost it all playing that blackjack game... Well, I didnt play for about 4 months. I paid back NETeller (My bank wouldn't pay them) and everything was fine, until I got the gambling bug again. OK, what I did was in addition to NETeller, I set up Firepay, Central Coin, Click2pay, and about four of the other smaller ones... I built up my credit with all these companies to where I had about $750.00 in credit with them. Well, one major poker site does NOT have a limit to which you can deposit, so I made a $750.00 deposit from 8 different companies into one large poker site. I had $6,000 sitting there in front of me! Time to play 30-60 and some major blackjack! I will spare you the details, but I lost it all in about 3 hours. All of it. Now my credit it shot, my life is ruined, and I cant even open up a bank account anywhere in TX. The moral of the story is, dont gamble (yes poker is gambling) on credit. It is the worst thing you can do. Please PM me if you need help or are in a similar situation. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Goodbye.

Scott

Hey Scott, I could take you by a couple of local card rooms here in Houston if you ever get the itch.

Might not be cool to post PM's.
But Wow!!

You are admitting you have a big-time compulsive gambling problem.
Somebody MAKES A JOKE about trying to win it back. And you apparently are thinking of taking this advice seriously??

You do know that this will only lead to you getting deeper in your 'whole', right?

you do know that even if you do win it all back somehow that you obviously do not have the self-control to stop and you will just lose it all again, right?

I believe that for some individuals such gambling-addiction lack of self-control is coming from some brain-chemical (dopamine or something??? hell, I don't know).

Please do not drive yourself further into ruin by going deeper and deeper into debt. An extremely bad idea.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in thinking that you are desperately in need of some gambling-anonymous type help.
This is serious stuff.

You aren't in it too horribly deep yet and you are young.
Life isn't so bad for you and you don't need to be so desperate.
But if you continue on this path you're going to really screw things up...potentially beyond repair.

do something towards the gambers-anonymous direction right-away before your compulsions and lack of self-control in your addiction get the better of you.

Well I didnt do it guys, I almost took a cash advance out today but took microbobs advice and didnt do it. Thanks Bob. I did however get $300 in the mail today (and yesterday) from my family for my 22nd birthday (today) and I pissed it all off on 200NL. I went all in preflop with KK (I was the button) and this jackass had JJ. Of course the Jackass got his set on the turn, all my money went down the drain (in his stack lol). O well, thats poker! At least I did not take out the 3K on my credit cards, thanks to Bob! Anyway, gotta run but I will be back soon. Later
