[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The moral of the story is, dont gamble (yes poker is gambling) on credit. It is the worst thing you can do. [/ QUOTE ] Really online poker didn't ruin your life. Bad decisions played the major factor. And now you have learned. You are 6k in the hole. It may seem like a lot right now, but you'll get through it. [/ QUOTE ] A) Your life isn't ruined, its just going to be harder for a while. B) What KinkyKid said is spot on: online poker didn't ruin your life. Bad decisions played the major factor. Borrowing money to gamble is a very bad decision. Never do it again. You just learned an expensive lesson. Hopefully you use this newfound knowledge to make better decisions in the future. My advice to you: Anytime you gamble (assuming you dig yourself out of your financial hole in the future), consider it as money spent for entertainment. If you win, its a bonus. If you lose, you expected that money to be gone anyway, so it doesn't hurt. |

Hey we're looking for players in our Houston game come on over sometime.
Seriously tho, poker didn't ruin your life, being an irresponsible [censored] did. You type of losers "blaming poker" are partially responsible for the stoopid politicians now trying to ban online gambling.. They hear stories by idiots like yourself then try to use them as campaign issues. Thanks alot. Grow up, loser. BB |

Thank you for all the support (from the supporters) and I expected the hate post... Anyway, I have decided on filing chapter 7. In all im in debt $23,000 from other things (the gambling is 6 of the 23) and I just dont have the money to pay off this debt. Im only 22 years old so I will be fine in 7 years. Thanks again for all the support. Scott [/ QUOTE ] Chapter 7 follows you around for 10 years, not 7. |

This is like telling everyone not to have that first beer because they might end up under a bridge with an empty wine bottle in a year or two.
Face it, you couldn't handle it, most can. I am not a "gambler". It took me much longer than it should have to get to higher stakes because I made a decision to never rebuy after my third deposit. Most people can handle it, you however need to go to gamblersanonymous.org |

I Agree with most of the other posters, that this is basically down to your own lack of self-control. I do think that you need help and there are lots of different ways and places you can do this.
You have made a total mess of the title of this post though, it's not poker that caused the problem and 6K in debt is hardly going to ruin your life. I understand the reason behind you posting this, but unfortunately for you the blame lies squarely on yourself, you were never forced into blowing this cash or gambling. I hope you get some help, but if you do decide to play poker again, then start at the beginning and read the books, play the micro-limits etc etc. GL for the future. Mik |
