I usually say I play poker for a living, as opposed to ZOMG IM A PRO. It sounds much less authoritative and douchetastic.

I've started just telling people I'm a student too, unless it's someone I think would get it, or think it was cool (but not have retarded questions). Most people I get introduced to are usually like "oh youre the poker dude, right?" anyway but I never really bother explaining it to randoms anymore. It's just too painful having to justify not being a degenerate but then if you tell them how much you actually make you come off like a douchebag or they feel weirded out etc. So [censored] it, I'm a "student"
