Default Are all poker players hustlers?

As alluded to in the Brandi monster thread, someone mentioned that all poker players are hustlers. Got me thinking....one the one hand, we all try to play with weaker players, we try to take advantage and get an edge, so we are hustlers. On the other hand, it's a comepetition, kinda like a sport, so we're not hustlers. Keep in mind, I am talking about all poker players, not just high stakes.

money has no relevance to some, yet is everything to others.

note this is also true when only considering winning players

especially small stakes players are hustlers since they need the very bad players to cover for the rake and then they make their profits.

high limit players arent that much of hustlers since they really need to work on their game to take money from good players.

The beauty of poker, most all think they are better than the other. Do you care if someone loses all and can't pay their bills or feed their own?

Sociopaths - it is all about me!

Hustling = seeking, creating, and exploiting + EV situations

Creating is the key word here. I think we all seek and exploit +EV situations, but we don't all try to create them.

There are a few definitions of the word - quite a few apply to all poker players. At the same time, some of the definitions wouldn't apply to 'honest' players.

So, I guess you'd have to give the specific definition you're talking about. I wouldn't want to be described as a "hustler" in the abstract, because it sometimes has a negative connotation.
