hello,
fairly new to NL and could use some insight on a hand that i played: -fairly loose game and i have a very tight image 4 or 5 limpers and i have AhKh. i raise to 85. only utg (very solid player) calls and shows his hand to his neighbor after everyone mucks. flop: Ks Kc 7s check, check. turn: 8c i bet 200. he calls (without much hesitation) river: 5s i check. he bet 375 (without much hesitation). i call. 1) against such an opponent. what is the "proper" play on the flop? if i should bet (how much?). if it went check/bet, how much do i raise? 2) after the check check on the flop. how much should i have bet the turn? or should i have gone for the check raise again? 3) as played, how good/bad was the river call? 4) any other thoughts? thanks, jc |

I would bet $100-$120 on the flop. Checking this flop is criminal. I'm not sure where you are on the table but it sounds like in the SB.
River call is standard given how you played the hand - you have no idea if you induced a bluff or he's value betting a flush or a full house. |

stack sizes? they are important here as you want to be building a large pot. also... is this a casino or a home game? your opponent should not be allowed to show his live cards to his neighbor.

I am not sure I like how you played this.
85 pop for a tight player normally represents a range of hands with only one of them (AK) hitting this monster. I would almost always lead out here for 60-70% of the pot. If you are going to be tricky and check it, I would prefer to overbet the turn probably around 250 or 300. As played, I would call. Important question - what does a solid player limp in with UTG then call an 85 raise with. Did you put him on a hand? |

-it is my SB. forgot to mention that.
-we both have around 2200. casino game. i read the hand "sweating" as "i'm gonna beat him with my small suited connectors" he had 10s8s and hit his flush on the river. assuming i bet 100-120 on the flop and he calls, how much do i bet on the turn? if he calls the turn, what's the most i should check/call with on the river? thanks |

In Mike caro's book of tell's when an opponent shows a hand to someone else it is usually good. I'm going to trust Mike Caro on this one and say AA for the lose. |

But I am glad you think that is what it looks like (assuming your response means that villain will muck any hand) because I may make the same play with any other pair given my actions beforehand. |

take his QQ to value town. bet flop turn and river. prb 40-50% pot on the river, unless stacks are awkward, then just insta push and look like your strong or something stupid like that so he'll call while his friend laughs and you take his stack.
