Yes, and now (fifteen years later) I realize I should have gently, yet authoritatively, thrown her down and at least started making out with her right then and there.
Get a couple of books on body language and start lagging it it up. If you make a bad read now and then, oh well. As long as you don't come across as a rapist or a perv you can play it off with a "WTF, you're so hot- how can any guy resist?". She might act pissed but she'll be flattered. And would a reputation as a "playa" be so bad? Still, you'll succeed more than you would have previously thought possible.
