Default Re: Min Buyin Hit and Run Players are ruining the game..

I feel like in certain situations it's ok to double up and leave with a 10 or 15 buy in in PLO25. Today I'm playing a guy who has a reputation for raising preflop with everything. I have KKJ4 DS and he raises so I raise and he reraises I go all-in. I win the hand but the next hand he does this to some other ppl hit and makes his hand for 50 bucks. What type of play is this. Then he goes all in on a 988 board with a straight draw. This is absurd he just wants to double up and leave and I feel like theres not much choice for anyone else if they dont wanna get sucked out.

Great post. There are 2 advantages to employing this strategy as I see it:
1) If you are a below average player this strategy limits the poker skills necessary for success.
2) Other players find adjusting to this startegy difficult. (Rolf's main point I believe)

Certainly you can't blame people for taking advantage of the rules in this way, but hitting and running should be discouraged for the good of the game. I agree with the posters who are calling for higher minimum buy-ins and no maximum. Sounds to me like all concerned citizens should be emailing support at their favorite site ...

don't you guys like rolf's book? this is exactly what he suggested doing.

No, it's not: he explicitly states that he doesn't believe rat-holing to be ethical on p.67.

Well the problem here is that you are not facing a person your facing a screen, there is no ethical way of approaching this. Dignity is not an issue if you want to do something they should make tables with a 15-30 hand min. until you can cashout. Thats a very different approach and I think it could work.

he does however, endorse hitting-and-running. He says that once you double up, you're no longer short--so leave the table.
