Default Where\'s Dave Tuchman?

Could he possibly be the new host of "The Circuit" on Cardplayer.com?

They're going to make an announcement on L@TB tonight about Dave.

I sincerely doubt it. I find this whole episode to be extremely strange. Dave goes off, ostensibly back home for Thanksgiving break, and then, without warning and without apparent prior notice to his erstwhile partner, disappears and the show treats him as if he never existed for a couple of days before grudgingly acknowledging his existence on the planet earth, even replacing his name in e-mails they read on the air.

I suppose the most likely explanation is that he got another job and simply quit. I hope I am dead wrong, but the way that Bart signed off on Friday alluding to an announcement from "Live at the Bike" and "Joker Gaming", the corporate name leads me to believe the suits have taken over. But we will see in just a bit. I hope Bart clues us in early on in the show tonight so I don't have to stay up late waiting for the big announcement. But its pretty clear that Dave isn't coming back.

For my part, I will be disappointed at such a turn of events. Bart is a very fine play-by-play announcer; however there is no denying the charisma and synergy between Bart and Dave when they are together in the booth. In this case, 1 + 1 equalled 3. It will be the end of a very pleasant era.

My thoughts exactly, VBCardinal. I think Dave's exit will signal the point where Live at the Bike jumps the shark, unless they make some changes and make up for the loss.

First, I think Bostin is a good "third man", but the show really needs its commentators to be two professional poker players who play day in and day out. Bart and Dave could engage in an intelligent argument about how to play a hand, based on their experiences everyday in the games at the Bike. But to be brutally honest, Bostin doesn't measure up to Dave in this respect. The show really loses a lot of value without another pro to argue with Bart.

As for chatter on non-poker topics, there's nothing better than Dave needling Bart about whatever the topic might be. Bart and Bostin have good chemistry, too, but it's just not the same.

Second, the show needs to diversify its game and player base. I think viewers are getting tired of the same players in the same game night in and night out. Let's see some nights with the 300-500 game, or even go find a VERY deep 80NL or 40NL game and move it up to table 00. You'd be surprised at how much action and gamboooling there is in a really deep 80NL game.

As for myself, I will keep watching for a while if Dave leaves, but if I'm not getting stimulating analysis from two professionals, I think I'll have to go the way of the Tuckster.

When I was playing last monday - I asked where Dave was (this was the first day Dave was missing and I noticed 10 minutes before the show started that he was gone) - he got very uncomfortable. Then after the show when I asked what the future was - Bart said some things that make me feel the show may be going away altogether. He said, "I'd like to move on - it takes a lot of time and if that happens, I cant see the show sticking around - I dont want to toot my own horn, but I dont think you can pull anyone off the street to replace Dave and I - We were bad at the beginning, but we learned and our current customer base will not stand for listening to people learn on the job - And they cant afford to pay any good announcers so I think the show will end if we leave"

I thought about that and wondered if Dave made an ultamatum to get more salary and they said no. He might have called their bluff and quit. Looking forward to the announcement. Whatever the "official" announcement is, I am going to take it with a grain of salt. It will probably only be 50% accurate and truthful at that - hopefully word around the Bike will spread as to the truth. Secrets cant be held at most of those poker rooms. People just talk too much!

This sounds like a very plausible theory, considering the hourly rate Bart and Dave give up by doing the show for three hours each night in primetime.

They dont give up that much. Studying the game for 3 hours a day has its benefits, too. I know my game has improved tremendously both by being on the show and watching the archives.
