Vodka + tonic, gin + tonic. Both are great. Dont forget the lime. Captain coke tastes like candy like others have said. I dont really care for it though. LIT are great too.

margarita on the rocks, sounds kind of gay, but if you just called it what it is, tequila, triple sec, and a twist of lime, it's a pretty straightforward drink.
also, stay away from scotch, that's a pretty advanced taste for a newbie drinker. Try some red wine, not really something you drink out at a party, but you might enjoy it. Also, the guy who said to keep trying beer is right, nobody likes beer at first, but after repeated attempts it becomes like second nature.

Hmmm, a few drinks that I'm a fan of...
Southern Comfort with a splash of Rose's lime juice. This drink will seriously mess you up as long as you are man enough for it. You can pretty much drink them all night and not get sick. Tequila Sunrise. Cheap tequila is ok in this drink.. so it doesn't put a dent in your wallet. I believe it has Tequila, Orange Juice, with a little splash of grenadine to make it look ghey. Hurricane - I've only had this one time but it was after I was extremely tanked. Lets just say this drink took me over the top. It may or may not be a girly drink, all I know is that it has Bacardi 151 in it. I figure anything with 151 has to be OK to drink. Maybe someone else can explain the ingredients. There are a lot of them and I was just too drunk to remember. anyway, GL to ya.

Try a Carabou Lou. 1 part Bacardi 151, 2 parts Malibu Rum and 4 parts Pinnaple Juice (roughly speaking). Alcoholic as hell and very light on alcoholic taste.
Looks like White Russians have been thoroughly mentioned. But heed the warnings. I played the Big Lebowski Drinking Game one night, and knelt down in front of a toilet for an hour afterwards begging to throw up. Three or four if you use 2% to mix with Khalua and Vodka, 1 or 2 if you use cream.
