I'm disappointed ELO gets no love. You guys need to listen to more cheese-rock and bust out some Supertramp.

No, because the OP used "best" in the subject.

God you suck at music.

The Pixies. They may not fall under pop/rock.

Trivium, though more metal than rock.

So not ok to call you a "stupid hipster" but ok for you to trash anything you don't prefer?

Here's, my list...and my criteria is this:

-The band rocks but not too much. (Anything more rocking than metallica/gnr is out).
-The band is catchy/poppy but not too much (anything lighter/more pop than Sugar Ray/ John Mayer/ Third Eye Blind is out)
-I (not me personally) hear 1 or 2 songs from the band on the radio and I like their sound.
-I buy their album based on a song or two. How much will I like the album as a whole?

Bands that I could enjoy their entire album based on what I've heard on the radio:

U2
Green Day
Stone Temple Pilots
Pearl Jam
Social Distortion
Rage Against the Machine
Bush
Bad Religion
The Offspring
Garbage
Jimmy Eat World
The Killers
Sum 41
Queens of the Stone Age

There's some bands that have lots of GREAT songs that would fit the pop/rock genre, but their albums have a lot of lousy/strange songs. So many that lots of folks won't be able to listen to the whole album:

Smashing Pumpkins
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Weezer
Beck
White Stripes

(i like all these btw, but many listeners wouldn't enjoy the whole album)

That one album from Puddle Of Mudd was really poppy and straight ahead, and rocked pretty much from start to finish.

Fleetwood Mac does not suck. They also don't "rock", though.
