[ QUOTE ] Coming in fast is 'Its always sunny in philadelphia" episode last night was hilarious, and Danny devito is too funny. [/ QUOTE ] Did a new season start? If not anyone know if they got renewed? [/ QUOTE ] I hope so that show was pretty awesome. Nearly anything from adult swim that isn't anime. Besides that the obvious one's like Seinfeld, simpsons, south park and for a wild card the bernie mac show OMG I only skimmed the thread but are you telling me no one has mentioned-

[ QUOTE ]
Arrested Development(AMAZING writing with all of the continuing jokes and references to old episodes, and all the puns) [/ QUOTE ] This has gotten a ton of votes but I wish there was some sort of season or episode minimum for shows to qualify. It lasted what, 2-3 seasons (love the show but still forget this detail)? It's the comedies like Cheers and Seinfeld that are still at least pretty good 6-7+ seasons in that should be given more credit. Longevity is hard in TV and particularly with comedies - their level of funny is often like the career arc of an NFL running back. Fast out of the gates, slows down after a few years, and then the last two he's getting $10M/year just based off of his name. Friends is a very good example of this. |

I Love Lucy for the win. Has anyone noticed that the older comedies (marx Brothers, Dick Van Dyke, et al.) were funnier when you were a kid? I think we get more cynical, jaded and picky as we get older.
[ QUOTE ] family guy is great. did anyone notice how simpsons has started to try to do that thing family guy does where it says "like that time chris tried to join the circus (or whatever)"... and then has some cutaway. simpsons needs to go away now. so unfunny i had to turn it off half way through last time. but it was great like 8 years ago. i want to put in my vote for "news radio". phil hartman = comedy genius. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, The Simpsons did it first and then dropped it. The producers actually mention it on one of the commentaries, saying something to the effect of: "Yeah, once family guy started doing it, we knew we should stop". They're jealous of FG's success, if you ask me. |
