i'm about six feet tall with long hair and a beard, and typically look like [censored] (last weekend i wore pajamas and flip flops to a tournament, and reaked of bourbon)
when i go on weekend gambling excursions (as opposed to just going for the day), i dress much better with khakis and a button down shirt and an expensive watch with nice shoes in short, it is easy for me to run over the table when i dress nicely, and i have to play a much more relaxed tight game when i look like a shitbag. do you think there is any truth to this, or am i just changing my own play based on how i already perceive them judging my play? (self fulfilling prophecy) |

Image will allow you to get away with things that your cards won't.
I should try wearing my suit next time. |

I never put a lot of thought into it, but it's a good question. Do people tend to give less action to better-dressed players? I might bust out my sport coat.

I usually wear my white sweatshirt and cap because most casinos get a little cold. Sometimes I wear nicer clothes. I haven't noticed any difference in action.
I have a subtle way of getting people to come after me (when they shouldn't) that transcends my apparel. This is true in and out of poker. That's my edge in life. That's how I roll |

Why wouldnt you want people playing back at you more? As long as you are conscious that its happening so you can take more pot control/bluff inducing lines with strong hands and build huge pots with monsters. Im thinking of NL of course if your playing limit you probably want that TAG image.

i NEVER said that it was a desirable image, just something i think i have picked up on after my last couple sessions that seems to fit in with past experience.
i was wondering if people think that there is a genuine difference, or if i am just playing more aggressively when i look good |

If your consciously making a "choice" to do one or the other your not playing optimally, take what your opponents give you.
