as a cop, when you say "stand up or be tasered", if they dont stand up, it is necessary to taser them. Now is it necessary to warn them by saying "stand up or be tasered" ... MAYBE ... common sense says it should be because what IDIOT does not do a simple command like STAND UP when told to by a police officer? its not like the cop was like: "suck my dick or be tasered". give me a break.

[ QUOTE ]
Jesus Christ. If the cops are called to [censored] library to deal with someone who won't leave they are at least going to sit him down and question him. The fact that the kid wouldn't leave for the Student cop people but would leave once he realized that real cops were going to get involved proves how much of a douche he is. Cops are within thier rights to question him at that point, and he wouldn't comply. Taser his ass all night. [/ QUOTE ] right to remain silent? note: he wasn't even arrested, nor did he commit a crime. Trespassing? wtf, he's a student there. He was just working on something midterm related and forgot his student ID for crying out loud. |

[ QUOTE ] the cops have ever right to keep the kid there, even if he WAS getting ready to go. what happens next, i dont think we will ever know. what we do know is that somehow, the kid goes psycho and starts screaming DONT TOUCH ME. The cops then ask him MULTIPLE times to get up/stand up or get tasered. He refuses, tasering ensues. Excessive force? maybe. Necessary? yes. [/ QUOTE ] no. ![]() I've seen police videos on TV where the suspect is literally in a fist fight with a cop and the cop doesn't even pull out his night stick or mase. [/ QUOTE ] On the force continuum tasering someone is lower than a night stick or mase. Learn what you are talking about. This guy deserved every inch of this. |

Reef:
Don't bother with all this 'common sense' and 'rational thinking' - when you don't do what the police say, they have every right to do whatever they want to you. There's a reason why police are given the rights they are - they were the most intelligent students in school, and moreover have incredible benevolence towards all mankind. |

The university owns the library and they make policies about who can enter. Students can enter of course, provided they abide by the policies, which he was not. The second he is asked to leave by the library officials and refusing he is trespassing. Did he expect the library to make an exception for him, "Na you don't need id, that's just a policy for everyone else"
While the cops did not HAVE to taser him (they could have removed him by carrying out) but they were within their rights to and frankly I'm glad they did. |

[/ QUOTE ] on a college campus, it's ridiculously easy to differentiate the hobos they try to keep out versus students. Also, if he's typing a paper or research type pages (versus porn, games, etc) , it's a pretty clear sign he's a student. |
