I'm not going to get in argument about how this isn't fair because it's never going to be perfectly fair and just. I'm also not going to get into a philosophical discourse or cultural studies thesis on what or why nigga has become mainstream and acceptable in our culture whereas 'nig*er', sp*c' and 'k*ke' are still highly offensive. I'm doing my best to keep the purely hateful crap out and try and keep the funny or distasteful but not-hateful stuff (like wassup nigga or 'nigga plz') in. If I err on the side of caution by still including some stuff that is mildly offensive like 'nigga plz' then that's just the way it is. That's the best I can do and if you don't agree with it, then sorry but too bad.

I'm amused at the suggestion that nigga has become mainstream and an acceptable part of the culture. Sure, some black folks use it amoung themselves, and Chappelle has effectively used it in his act which is, iteself, largely a commentary on race relations. And then we have a bunch of white boys using in amoung themselves in imititation when there are no black people around and thinking its really funny/cool.

But, oh white boy, try using it around some black people and see if they think its become mainstream...

On another note, I recently saw a broadway show (and before you ask, I don't seem to have caught teh gay (is this still within the forum rules?)) with a song called "Everybody's a little bit racist."

On Saturday my wife was shopping, I wasn't with her, and I don't know the exact context but she must have been wondering if what she was trying on was attractive on her/made her look fat, whatever, and the saleslady, who was black, said to her: Nigga Plz...

My wife is pretty white (although she gets hit on by black guys all the time.)
