What are your goals with poker?

lol. I had a bad swing and pissed away my roll. Had $300 spare change on Pokerroom, worked that up to 1k, did some reload bonii, ran it from 1k-8k from the 1st of Oct till now, just took out 3k, so only 5 left, took a small shot at 400NL, got pozzed, now Im back trying to grind out that 1300 I lost at 400NL playing 200NL. I dont think Im going to take another 'shot' this week, unless i go on an insane rush at 200NL.

Current roll: $4166.
End of week goal: 6.2k (friday night)

To make enough in the next year (~30k from now until next August) to be able to buy a house in Argentina and support myself there playing poker and capitalizing on the low exchange rate. Sell that investment once it appreciates, repeat at another country with a low exchange rate.

That brings up a question. I've got basically November-July to play, can spare about 20 hours per week if I need, bringing me up to ~ 20h/w x 9m x 4wk/m = 720 hrs. So I need to make about 30,000/720 = $42/hour.

Can someone break down for me how feasible this is? Keep in mind my roll will start very small ($100-$200), and I can only beat the 25 NL at FTP with confidence right now. I am, however, devoted to learning, and I've started breaking down the game lately in pursuit of this goal. Could someone give me a reasonable time frame for moving up limits and the amount I would make in each span of time to reach the goal? I've played a ton of hands of poker (probably near 100k), but I've just never scrutinized the game like I am now, so I expect to learn pretty fast.

If anyone could PM me some sort of reasonable time frame, or just the opinion that this goal is pretty impossible, each would REALLY help me out. Thanks.

You failed to mention how many tables you play at a time. This will make a huge difference: if you one-table, that 720 hours will equate to about 58,000 hands of poker, making your goal all-but-impossible. If you ten-table, you'll get 580,000 hands in during your nine-month stretch, and that puts $30,000 within your reach at about 10 PTBB/100 even if you never move up from $25NL.

Given your exceedingly small starting bankroll, you'll really have a very difficult time making your goal unless you play many tables, because you're going to need several months before you have a sufficient bankroll to play a level where you can actually make a good winrate.

Just to help you along on your quest, I'd personally say that:

...at $25NL, $5 per table hour is a good winrate.
...at $50NL, $8 per table hour is a good winrate.
...at $100NL, $12 per table hour is a good winrate.
...at $200NL, $20 per table hour is a good winrate.

Given that you'll want to have A BARE MINIMUM of 12 buyins at the next level before you move up (20 is considered "safe" for a level you can beat), you can figure out for yourself how realistic your goal is, given all the factors in play.
