Default bet it to keep them from betting me off it? simple 6 maxer

villian ive seen is kinda tight passive. but i dont think its above him to make a stab at a weak river check. his calling standards selective though. he will fold alot of flops.

If you had an ace, you could consider checking and calling. In this case you bet, not just because you might get bluffed off the best hand but also because he might fold ace high.

Betting the flop is ok. Turn, i fire again. (hating it) Its a bad feeling, fireing again on the turn, not folding the villain and finding yourself on the river UI. I don't know. Someone with more clues than me needs to do a compilation thread/definitive piece on this sort of scenario.

You bet again on the turn not because you hate it when he calls, but because you love it when he folds. Many players will call the flop with any two cards hoping to make a pair. The turn card is a great one for you. If you had the best hand on the flop then you still do and no new draws have appeared. If he raises then you can fold with a clear conscience and bet that turn again the next time. With a different board and/or more than one opponent you would have to be more circumspect.

It is true that when he calls the turn things are not looking so great but still, it's heads-up and the pot is laying you 6:1. Whether to check/fold or bet the river is certainly debateable and close. When in doubt I like to stay aggressive and give myself a chance to win the pot. If he calls then you have the added benefits of getting to see his hand and of not having any lingering doubts about whether you could have won the pot, which can adversely affect your play. Showing down K high may also prod your opponents to pay you off with weaker hands.
