I think the cover version of Hey Jude at the beginning of The Royal Tenenbaums where the characters are being introduced is amazing and perfect for the movie.

Layla would be my first choice but a close second would be "Under Pressure" in Grosse Pointe Blanke (and the use of 99 Luftballoons in that movie was spot on as well).

IMO - the use of Tiny Dancer in Almost Famous was one the most cliched & hackneyed use of song in film. You've got a bunch of 'rockers' about to face certain death and they break into a tune by Elton John?
