8...Nb4
9. Qb3 Bf5 10. Nd4 Now Nc2+ drops a piece, so we have to do something to defend the bishop 10...Bg6 11. a6 Now we have to move the knight back |

if he plays Qd1 then we can play Bf5 and force Na3 (unless i'm missing something any other move is followed by Bxb1, Rxb1, Nxa2), so we may leave our knight out in the corner but we leave his in poor position as well and get to develop our bishop without losing tempo, so i think Nb4 forces Qb3, and we can still play Bf5 and from there gain a decent position.

[/ QUOTE ] ... Nb4 Qb3 Bf5 Nd4 Now the black bishop is under attack and has to move again, so there's no gain of tempo. Meanwhile the white knight is planted firmly on d4 and can be backed up by moves like Be3 if necessary. The black knight on b4, by contrast, can be driven out anytime by moves like a3. It's a general rule that snap attacks in the opening like this don't end well. I think we'd be better served making developing moves. |

I think we need to develop our dark square bishop. This will allow us to 0-0 and brings another piece of our army into play.
Moving the donk to b4 would be the 2nd time we have moved it during the opening with other pieces still sitting on home squares. Vs a player like curtains, he will make quick work of us if we play like this. Just keep it standard and we should make it to the endgame with chances. The question is where do we put the dark square bishop? Be7 sounds goot to me. |
