MS as a company has made a lifetimes worth of profits and certainly knows how. But i think they are one more generation away from making big profits. They basically wrote off the first two generations profit wise and centered on building a base and Xbox live. Any extra profit was icing on the cake.
Still im sure if you look up the numbers the ammount of profit % Nintendo makes on items is higher then MS and Sony. |

[ QUOTE ] On a slightly different note, is there any speculation when xbox 360 is going to cut their prices? I want Dead Rising so bad but with two new systems coming out and the holiday season, the price has to drop fairly soon right? [/ QUOTE ] I've heard they'll drop it the week the PS3 hits stores. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks, now I just have to avoid Best Buy for a month. |

[ QUOTE ] thedaver, and do what with the money? sony's problem isn't liquidity, it's problem is that no one wants to buy it's products anymore. the trinitron, vaio, walkmen, minidisc and cybershot lines are all struggling in the current market, and the ps3 and bluray look poised to fail miserably. sony makes it's money by being ruthlessly proprietary with it's accessories, which was fine when everyone bought sony electronics. no one buys sony anymore though. [/ QUOTE ] Who knows? The point is the strategic horizon for companies is much shorter than people tend to anticipate, and I doubt many people think Sony is in any serious risk of default. The article was a worst case scenario given zero liquidity available to Sony. Obviously that's not realistic. [/ QUOTE ] Like I said, the article is certainly far-fetched, but I think it does a good job of explaining Sony's situation in a simple way. This is a not a "Sony is going bankrupt" story, it's a "Sony is almost certainly overvalued right now" story. |

According to this article, even if you spend the $100 to reserve a PS3, you aren't guaranteed to get one. Awesome. |

I enjoy my 360 The 360 will be cheaper and much easier to buy if that matters. Also the 360 will have more games for the system, and be on their 2nd generation of games. Ps3 has more power under the hood, and their tilting (non vibrating) controllers. They also say it will play the entire ps library, something microsoft can't claim. |
