DJ Shadow "Funky Skunk" mix tape

One of the best DJ mixes I've listened to in a while (and I've been listening to a bunch lately.) This isn't DJ Shadow doing his own material but just a good mix of old soul, funk, old school and even some relatively current hip-hop. Much less somber than typical Shadow-produced tracks.

I think it was legitimately available in an extremely limited form, but it should be pretty easy to find online.

I've been trying to find this but haven't been successful yet. Although I did just queue up a download, but it's just one long file. Meh.

But love DJ Shadow, so hopefully I'll get my hands on it soon.

It was originally part of the Public Works box set, a clothing/music collaboration between DJ Shadow and Shepard Fairey (of Obey Giant fame). I actually have a copy of the mp3 if you're interested. (Well you can listen to my copy if you'd like [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] ). Anyway, it actually looks like they're selling it on his site again, if you'd like a legitimate copy, and a Fairey-designed t-shirt.

Edit: This mix is fantastic. If you like this, you'd love the DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist collaboration called "Brainfreeze ."

Found it and gave it a listen while running errands today. Really great stuff, although I'd have never guessed it was DJ Shadow if there hadn't been a few mentions of him and "Funky Skunk" peppered throughout. I'd heard it was very different than his other stuff but I wasn't quite prepared for JUST HOW different it was.

Still, awesome mix.
