I don't feel like typing up the story, but I was pulled over once by a cop who did everything in his power to NOT give me a DUI (or even a FST). He succeeded! The weird thing is there weren't any traffic violations, so I'm pretty sure he only pulled me over for suspicion of DWI...not sure why he changed his mind, but I'm definitely thankful.

tom:
The reason you want a lawyer is because lawyers know DA's and know the judges. They will get you things behind closed doors you will never be able to get yourself. Find out who is a good lawyer in the area (start asking around) and talk to him. Lawyers are one thing in my opinion worth spending lots of money on if there is even a slight chance they can help keep your record clean. This is your future we are talking about, is your future worth more than $5000 to you? If yes, get a lawyer. They can't hurt you in the longrun, it can only stand to help you. Even if there is only a 5% chance of getting out of the charges, 5% is a whole hell of a lot better than 0% chance. The other thing to do is to learn from your mistakes. Don't drink and drive anymore if there is even a chance of you being over the limit. A second offense is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH worse than a first offense. And a first offense can still really [censored] up your life. |

Kipin, it's not me who needs a lawyer, it's double a tom.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I pwned the first field sobriety test (standing on one foot and counting) then the a-hole has to bust out his pen and do that one and I guess I failed cause depressants make your eyes do weird things. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, because the guy trying to keep all of us alive is the a-hole. [/ QUOTE ] I was not completely shitfaced. I had a few drinks and after a few drinks I can still drive better than 99% of females. [/ QUOTE ] it seems you need to die |

The part where you had Everclear and then turned down a drink because you didn't want to drive drunk is kinda silly.
A good rule of thumb would be "once Everclear is involved you aren't going anyway". |

GTL,
Sure, but when you're working with the mentality that says "hmm, this punch is too weak, let me find the strongest alcohol possible and make it stronger, by the way this is like my 4th drink" I just don't see how you end up at "no thanks, I'm driving someplace else". |

[/ QUOTE ] No drunk driving story starts with "Well I was going out to get drunk and the only mode of transportation I was gonna use is my car". Drunk driving stories always end with I stopped drinking to sober up and was just over the limit, or I had a bunch of drinks that caught up with me later, or I wasn't planning on driving but X happened so I had to. My point is most of the people who go out drunk driving knew they would be drinking and driving beforehand. They knew they were taking their car and that they would be drinking. I have no doubt that probably 60% of the stories listed above this is what happened. |

Dids, I'm not trying to excuse my own behavior, what I did was foolish. Also, the punch sucked.
