Common enough idea, but is the continual negativity of going over your errors self-defeating?


There clearly is an argument for positive reinforcement of ideas, ie going through the times you played well and determining what made it a good play.

When trying to improve your game is it best to look at bad plays and try to see the situations in which those occured and try to avoid them

or look at good plays and try to find situations in which you can repeat them?

Bad plays if you have the right attitude. if you look objectively and learn. Just beating yourself to death without learning wouldn't be very productive.
