Bloke & Iz,

My apologies. I don't know if you're right or not, but I guess you know more than I do.

You, as an apparent expert on casino bonuses, might notice that good bonuses are dying, the average poker player doesn't. So we don't care if we scare the casino's, because casino bonuses are just a little extra we pick up now and then. We pick up some bonuses along the way, things that aren't too complicated, that aren't too risky, and that don't involve too much research.

Since there is always poker, we don't care about casino bonuses enough to put lots of time and effort into them. So don't be shocked or amazed if we laugh at the consequences of publicly discussing them. If we don't use these forums for finding them, they might as well not exist.

Interesting thoughts. I am wondering how you guys would react if someone wrote a powerful poker bot and gave out a three-month trial out to everybody on this and other forums. Or even widely advertized it on TV. A bot quick to install, hard to detect, easy $10/hr/computer for anyone.

When confronted by a bunch of poker players who lost their profits he would say he does not care since he does not make money playing poker, he makes money writing bots. What would you say?

[/ QUOTE ]

1) WTF 10/hr? there are 100s here who make 20+ times this.
2) You set up your hypothetical wrong. A bot like this would increase the earn of most players here.
3) He is cheating (according to site rules and poker ethics) while talking about bonuses isn't, so this analogy is complete BS if you are trying to debate moral ground.
4) You act like bonus whoring is some noble pursuit, when really it's a much worse way to make a living than nearly everything, including poker.

I wasnt even going to do the BJ promo because since I would be really slow having played almost no BJ, even with betting the max, my hourly woulda been higher playing poker with less variance. Bearhustler nailed our perspective.

The only thing I disagree with that Iz or Bloke said is Izverg's reference to all the 30k+ bankrolls here at zoofagland. I think most of you guys are d!ckless p*ssies who still grind out low-mid levels and think you are great because you suck Sklansky's c0ck.

Heads up for bankrolls? And lol @ you thinking all 2+2 forums are created equal.

And to thebloke and the Izberg or w/e: You guys win this thread.

[/ QUOTE ]

Somehow I don't think you could afford it. But I'd love to take your bankroll of your hands.

[/ QUOTE ]

I play NL HE. Name a site, stakes, and a time.

Bellagio, anytime you want. I really don't care the amount.

I live in Alaska, so that would be kinda hard. Do you have money on any online poker sites?

I don't think we have, or at least I haven't intended to. I've never said bonus hunting is noble, merely that it is how I choose to make my money and I aim to protect that. Obviously I don't agree with your assessment on its value, else I wouldn't do it - you do your thing, I'll do mine.

I thought Sergiy's example was a good one, even if you think his premise was wrong. There are certainly other examples from your area, for example I believe Doyle Brunson found he had to alter his playing style a lot after publishing Super System, because everyone now knew his techniques. I expect he might well have wished afterwards he had not published it, even though he was good enough to overcome the problems it caused him. (and if that's a bad example too, then whatever - there are some parallels at least.) Nowadays it doesn't matter, everyone and his dog plays poker and there is a vast library of material available on it, so it doesn't hurt you to discuss how you do it publically. With casino bonuses we're still in that earlier phase, and so we like to preach on the virtues of discretion.

TheBloke, I respect you from your posts here, and was obviously using a little hyperbole in my post. You guys are implying with your arguements that bonus whoring is something that deserves to be protected on moral ground, which I do not feel is the case. If I had a friend who did a lot of bonus whoring, I might care about people messing stuff up for you. But I see you guys as purely at the whim of the markets, and do not feel any moral obligation to protect your interests. Going out of ones way to post stuff just to screw you guys would be wrong, but there is nothing wrong with acting in one's own self interest or that of his peer group by posting stuff here that will hurt you.

That being said, I understand what you are doing here, and would prolly be doing the same thing if I were in your situation.

GoAhead, please PM me your contact info as I am sure to be in Vegas some time in the next 6 months.
