tenn,

no bartending or restaurant type gigs? to me retail is like the worst possible solution, but hey, whatever tickles your pickle. gl

I hate working with food. I did bartending a bit. But the hours would not be condusive to working the next day really. Plus I never took a class, just the bar code exam.

I dont mind retail. Stick me behind a register and let me ring people up and straighten out gum packets. Easy mindless work. Customer Service sucks, but for some reason in the store I'm friendly to the customers. Target wasnt half bad. Plus I get a discount and I'm poor.

am I the only person that likes polyphonic ring tones over the actual real sounding song?

I have recently found that I like Diet Dr. Pepper. As a longtime Diet Coke drinker, I have trouble accepting that I enjoy a Pepsico product.

In the United States, Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages does not have a complete network of bottlers and distributors, so [Dr Pepper] is sometimes bottled under contract by Coca-Cola or Pepsi bottlers.

Nope.

I think real tones sound dumb.

I'm as tense as I've been in many years due to a lot of things happening at once. This has led me to do a lot of stupid things. Among them:

1. Nearly get in a fistfight with someone who cut me off Saturday morning. It was nearly a really bad accident. When we pulled up to the next light, I cursed him out, mocked his terrible choice of effiminate cars (a miata), etc. etc. etc. Way over the top. I was actually thinking about getting out of the car and beating the snot out of the guy, but the light changed and he drove off really, really fast.
2. I've gotten in touch with an old flame from highschool who is insane. Literally. Like, institutionalized, on anti-psychotic medicine insane. The 2nd craziest girl I've ever known (#1 having committed suicide). She's talking about flying across the country to visit me under the pretense of a highschool reunion where she says if I didn't go she didn't want to go. I haven't yet responded that she shouldn't (she REALLY shouldn't), because I kind of want her to. This is something I've done in the past when I've been depressed/stressed (with other crazy girls). I feel bad because it seems to me that I just like the attention, because God knows there is NO way I'm going back there. The standard sequence of events seems to be (a) get back in touch with girl, (b) get them to like me again, (c) get weirded out with the whole situation, (d) blow it up and make them look like they're in the wrong. It's kind of sick.
3. I might get a new car. My car is the worst car in the whole world, so this is not something that's way out of line, but the decision to buy one has come fast and forcefully.
4. I am procrastinating from things I need to do through a LOT of different things - tv, the internet, exercising, drinking, hanging out with friends, etc. I really, really, really, really can not afford to do this right now.
5. I am spending money way over my head. I've just been buying and buying and buying. Previously, I've never been a big spender. I'm not really all that big into stuff. Yet I've been buying an ungodly amount of stuff lately.
6. I've been indulging some old vices, particularly stripclubs and the like, for more than I can afford to spend.
7. Despite knowing all this, I somehow manage to convince myself when I do each of those things that it's NOT related to the tension I'm under right now.
8. I'm not sleeping anywhere near as much as I need to, but I am not productive when I'm awake.
9. I've been emotionally toying with this girl at work for fun. Nothing mean, but doing a lot of push/pull things like they talk about on the internets essentially for test purposes because I want to see if they work. They do, indeed, seem to work. Turns out chicks do in fact love jerks, and moreover that I could do that kind of stuff if I wanted to. I have not decided whether to take these methods out of the current controlled lab that I've been trying them out in, though, for various reasons.
9. I feel like the opening scene in Fight Club, where everything's flat. The whole "never really asleep, never really awake" part.

Tommorrow is my last day of work for 10 days. I'm going houseboating for 6 days, Vegas for 3 and 1 day for recovery. This will be my first vacation in 1 1/2 years. I'm pumped.

I haven't done anything at work in months. If anyone checked into what I was supposed to be doing I would be fired instantly. Yet I continue, and they just gave me a raise.

----

My estraged wife wants to get back together...Now I have no idea if I should do it or not. My therapist said it was a gamble, with my emotional health as the stake. +EV?

------

I just read Chuck Klosterman's book Killing Yourself to Live. I enjoyed it, but I disagreed with everything he said about anything. Plus I read it as if Dids were narrating it...I clearly spend too much time on 2+2.

-----

It's finally fall.

-----

My company just instituted a dresscode, which is hilarious, since we're all a bunch of nerds who can't even dress casually correctly. I haven't seen a single appropriate tie yet.
