Evelyn Ng doesn't even play poker anymore?

Was at Borders reading an interview with Evelyn Ng in a poker mag and apparently she doesn't even play anymore??? She said she was having a hard time with the game (whatever that means...) and was taking a break to do other things. It mentioned that she took a break away from poker earlier in her career to do some sort of other work and came back to the game refreshed...

Yet, in another poker mag, I read she is one of the hottest up-and-coming female poker players and that she is trying to create a marketing empire around her image.

Not to overly criticize Evelyn or personalize this, but does anyone else think it's ridiculous to make money off of a game you don't even play???

I predict in 5 years from now there will be alot of very good young but broke players. I'm a "pro" poker player for 6-7 years now and i'm broke. Played real good (getting into good games, playing within my roll ect..). There are a lot of pitfalls and eggo could be one of them as well.You can say whatever but when you have no job and "no life" meaning you breath,and sleep poker you will find a way to go broke over and over again. This has nothing to do with eve. and i'm not depressed over it as it's one of the challenges of a true GAMBLER poker player. Afterall if it was easy it would be easilly exploited by all.

I find it funny that you (you're not alone either) think if someone goes broke while playing poker it can only be because they are a fish.

Some of the best players in the world have went bust before. I know a very good player with a significant roll and he has voiced concern to me before about going bust. It happens and it does not automatically make you a bad player. Reread the post you are making fun of, there are some serious pitfalls and EGO (stop) this is your problem

That's exactly it. If she can market herself, make money from her image without forking over 10k for every buy in event, why not? These buy-ins can really add up if you don't go deep.

I wonder how many of the top known cash pros (ie brunson, forrest, DN, juanda etc etc) have not gone busto at least once in their lives? I thought that was part of the ritual to becoming a bigtime gambler/player
