He needs to negotiate it and have it approved by the conferees, many of whom are apparently quite opposed to it, albeit more on procedural grounds ("this doesn't belong here") than policy ones ("we heart gambling").

I just emailed my representative and used this procedural grounds argument. He's on the conference committee and voted in favor of H.R. 4411. He also has a reputation of ethics and honesty, so I reminded him of that and asked him to uphold the integrity of the legislature and let the Senate debate the merits of the gambling bill on its own, rather than sneaking it in through the back door.

I'd call if I could, but since I can't emails are better than nothing.

Senator Kennedy's office was still answering phone calls at 5:40PM. If you are from Mass., he has some pull so give him a phone call.

The gentlemen who answered my call was unsure of where Mr. Kennedy stood on this.

If this gets passed, what type of timeline would we be looking at to safely get our money out of poker sites?

Quite a while if not forever. That isn't the thing we should be worried about.

How about a more constructive question. Assuming Frist's current tactic fails does he have any other possible fallbacks for getting this thing through this session that we might need to prepare for? Just trying to do some positive, pro-active thinking.
