nath,

Every time I think I am 100% on top of how scummy the poker world is, I read someone who I felt had good ethics defending cheating with rationalizations like "most players cheat anyway" and then I remember why I don't spend more time involved with poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, it's depressing. Can you teach me how to start Killer Companies and make Awesome Investments so I don't have to deal with poker as much?

[/ QUOTE ]

I should clarify that this isn't sarcasm.

Default Re: Official and Final ZeeJustin Thread (was) Is ZeeJustin Rehabilitated?

Firstly, I should say that i didnt read the 20+ (or however long it is) thread the whole way thru, as threads about Zee are generally just people tirading about how big of a bag Zee is. So I apologize if something I say is out of place or unwarranted due to unread replies...

The most absurd thing about the posts im reading about Zee are how people think they are entitled to decide Zee's punishments at all. I read one reply were someone said that he should be shunned from the poker world forever or until he pays full restitution. Not only is it absurd to think that something like this is a plausible solution, not to mention completely impossible to carry out, but its absurd that a demand like this come from someone that has in all likelyhood never a) met Zee b) spoken to Zee and c) played with Zee (especially in a tournament where he multiaccounted).

That is how I feel about the old news (forgive the oxymoron). I've been trying to keep up with all the stuff said about him on 2p2, but never posted how I feel about it. What inspired me to post is the newest absurd thing that I read.

People are actually up in arms about him posting on 2p2 under his old name. I mean honestly, this doesn't even make sense. How irrational do you have to be to think that he should be required to make a new acct name on 2p2? I see this as an idication of how rediculous people are being about the ZeeJustin situation. Its pretty much apparent to me that anyone who suggested that he be forced to reset his 2p2 account is complaining solely for the sake of complaining. Like a two year old that throws an hour long temper tantrum after not getting to lick the icing-spoon, I would be very surprised if any of the people most vocally against Zee have any real reason to be so outraged. In all likelihood most of these people weren't in any way impacted. It's a good thing that the problem spots in today's online gaming world have been illuminated so that we can prevent it in the future, but most of the punishments ive heard people doling out are completely unwarranted.

I'm bumping this thread because the ZJ Bellagio tourney thread is getting hijacked about his cheating, when it should be about his play in the tourney there. So all such comments on ZJ as a cheater should be made in this "official and last" ZJ cheater thread.

However, for all those in that thread and this one, who keep saying that myself and others should "just get over it and move on", I would like to propose what I think is a reasonable standard for whether we should "get over it" or not, and when (and remember the "it" in question isn't just the acts of cheating but the lying about not knowing it was cheating from the beginning).

And that is simply when Poker Stars "gets over it" and allows ZJ to come back on their site and play, then I will "get over it" and so should others. Of course we should then probably get over playing online as well.

So all you weak ethical types need to be bombarding Lee Jones with emails telling him to "get over it" and let your cheater bud back on stars. And don't forget about JJProd either and leave him out in the cold.

except that I'm guessing that Stars has long since 'gotten over it' but that 'getting over it' really has nothing to do with whether they are going to let him back on their site (which they are not).

Why? He's got a point; Justin made the FT of one of the Bellagio preliminary events, and people were hijacking the thread to talk about it again. If no one really wants to discuss it anymore, the thread will die again on its own.

I agree Nath.

BT's bump seemed reasonable/well-intentioned enough to me.

Wasn't necessary for PB to take it as yet another opportunity to tell BT how much he thinks he sucks.

note - I'm not exactly BT's biggest fan either. And I do like PB. Just seemed a bit uncalled for.

the bump would have been so much different had Bluff used Nath's (much more reasonable) explanation, and said "the ZJ bashing should be in this thread, not the thread discussing his tourney results." if he does that, i have nothing to say. of course, he didn't.
