[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] the events of 9/11 did not upset me. [/ QUOTE ] I was a foreign exchange student in 01-02, in Goshen, IN. There was some sort of service on the football field instead of a class, where they commemorated the event and sang 'God bless America'. I told one of my teachers that I wasn't going. She stared at me for a few seconds, and looked as if she wanted to punch me in the face. Then she told me I had to go to the detention center, where I was joined by a couple of Mexicans and my friend, who needed to study for a test. I still stand by my decision, but these days I can see myself going anyway, out of respect. But at that time I had to hear >50% of the people I ran into tell me it was an act of God, to punish people for straying away from being a good Christian. One person actually said 'it's the blue states' fault'. Enough is enough. And I agree with the argument that there are a lot more important events going on in the world. Flame away. [/ QUOTE ] wow - this is the most disrespectful thing I have heard in a long time. I think your a complete ass for being so disrespectful unprovoked. As a forgien guest, if you cant at least stand on a field where God Bless American is being sung because of a horrible terrorist attack, get the [censored] out of America. |

I'd have done the same thing, then threatened a lawsuit when punished (detention'd) for not wanting to attend a religious service in a public school. |

Disrespect has nothing to do with it either. Disrespect would be actively rubbing my opinion in people's faces. I simply chose not to participate. I wouldn't even post this as a 'confession' if an earlier post didn't remind me about it. (And it wasn't technically detention, the room was set up during the ceremony because the school didn't want to force it upon the students. But even if it was, I doubt I'd sue)
I also walked out of a church once, when they did a prayer session for a member of the community that had been paralyzed in an accident, and thus must have been punished by God. As I left, I heard the words 'we understand that God wouldn't bring this upon XXX without a reason'. My 'hostmom' at the time gave me hell for that. And MatthewRyan, I guess you were also one of those people that wasted electricity keeping their lights on at night, to show the terrorists that the American spirit wouldn't crumble. Edited to add: I did not say 'I'm not going' unprovoked. The teacher told us to go, and I said I wasn't going, so she told me to go to the detention center instead. She was the one keeping an eye on us, ao I had to tell her. Also, and I didn't make this clear enough in the original post: I was aware in advance that this alternative existed; it's not like I stood there with an 'f that you guys are not making me do that' attitude. |

here are mine:
I've had as many sexual partners as years old I am, and feel I am basically 'done'. I.E. - I don't care if I get laid again. I'm 25. I beat a police interrogation about a very serious crime I committed that most my friends don't know about. I like heroin / opium way more than cocaine. I am a fugitive and will be turning myself in soon. I spent this summer on serious life tilt and am now almost busto. I have my shady friends do dirty work for me I don't want to do. If I could be drunk 24/7 I would. :::Insert the obvious confession here (lol sup d00ds)::: |
