Not sure where to put this so my apologies in advance.
How do you avoid a big losing session after a couple of winning sessions. Over the holiday weekend I put together two nice winning sessions just to blow it all on Monday. I feel like this should have been avoidable. I got carried away with chasing what I lost and wound up losing everything I won the previous two days. Major setback to building the BR. Any bankroll management ideas that could help. Thanks |

if you lose it all in one session and feel any emotion at all about it, just walk away and come back tomorrow
and get accustomed to it |

This is something I'm dealing with as well. Had awesome sessions M-W felt like a Poker God and then yesterday lost about a 1/3 of what I gained.
I'm trying to tighten up when the cards aren't coming and draws don't seem to be hitting, is this a correct? Assuming I don't want to just stop playing. |

People often associate tilting with only bad beats. This is not entirely the case and there is such a thing as "good tilt."
An example would be, you've won a monster pot. You feel you have chips to burn and that playing 79 suited from UTG is acceptable due to your stack size. This is also tilt. Anything that changes the way you play your A-game is tilt. It's the same if you come off a string of winning sessions, you may start to get cocky and think that whatever you do is a winning strat. That's why it's important to know that your strategy is a winner and stick to it regardless of outcome. Obviously this is not something that can be taught overnight, but no one said that mastering poker was easy. |

[/ QUOTE ] you can not adjust you playing style based on running bad. if im running bad or im im running hot i still have the same percentage to hit my 9 out flush draw on the river. just because i havnt hit my last 4 doesnt mean that the 5th wont come in. treat each hand as a seperate and individual event and you should do fine. we all run bad at times and feel that we cant hit a card in the world to save out lives. but you know what theres a name for that, its Poker. just because you play more than someone else doesnt mean you should hit your draws more often. you both and an equal chance of drawing out just make sure you pot odds are right and you play within your bankroll and you will do fine in the long run |

Maybe this is where I went wrong. In the second winning session a number of the players were teasing me for overly tight play and nutpeddling.
I thought that maybe I should experiment with opening up a little bit. I was playing loose to start and then tightened up and it didn't seem to work. My bluffs were called down and my strong hands were always second best. We'll try it again. |

But sometimes, aren't we running bad because we're playing poorly. For example as I said I was running bad last night and I thought I was playing well, just getting sucked out on. Then I looked in pokertracker and my VPIP was through the roof in the blinds for some reason. I wanted to play every suited connector and small pp. So that's what I mean I guess. But you're right in that if we're playing like we normally do, it doesn't make sense to adjust your style. |
