There's a good chance they got the idea from this forum. I saw this idea 2-3 months ago on the WSEXGM thread.

Someone will write a software program to pull the names and associate them with the HH's.

Maybe. This would not be a trivial undertaking, however.

yeah, this couldn't be TOO impossible, could it?

Even if it's just a 'table-session' type HUD display where we see that seat 1 has such-and-such stats.

although one glitch could be it having difficulty recognizing when one player is replaced by another..and continuing to give you old stats.

So for a simpler program one would want to include the option for the player to 'clear stats' for individual seats at that table.

So when 1 new guy steps in you hit 'clear stats' for that seat and he starts at 0 hands again. But for the 3 other guys who you've been playing with the whole time you still see all 100 of the hands you've played against them or something.

If you miss one of the players changing and think the previous guy's old stats still apply then that's on you.

This would be a reasonable type of HUD that could work I guess.

I'm not sure I desperately would need something like this though. I've been playing at a couple of non-PT sites and doing just fine on them.
I'm kind of in-between on this whole issue.

I don't think it's a glitch, I remember it being discussed before as a way to prevent datamining/huds while still allowing self tracking.

So will you still be able to get full HH with player names through email?

I think I like this!! WPEX kicks ass again (aside from the fact they won't let me cashout because of a $30 sportsbook bonus that I have called them twice about and told them I don't want so let me cash TF out, but it still doesn't work.)

How'd you get the SB bonus?

I've been thinking about it, and it seems to me that PAHUD should still work correctly, but only on new HHs. If PT now saves them with the serial # as the player's name, then that should serve as a user name. Since PAHUD picks up the names of players at the table from HHs not from the table itself, it should be able to function properly.

Any ideas why that wouldn't work?

I will be taking all my sportsbook business elsewhere for now. I'll be back when the opponents names are in the hand histories.

I dont play on WPEX so I could care less but....

You would think that removing player names in hand histories would push away more players than it will bring in.

I guess this is the price of a company that (currently) doesnt make more money with more players. Dunno

Interesting ... an internet poker site run by someone who is capable of logical and rational thought ... who is thinking about the longterm viability of the games. I like it.

Furthermore, I think this actually hurts your average player more. There are always ways around these types of things. So the player who is more computer savvy, etc. will still be using a HUD while less others will be. Why not leave the information as public knowledge and let everyone use a HUD. Seems like more of an equal playing ground that way.

If you want to eliminate HUDS, this sure isnt the way to do it. Instead you should clearly state that HUD's are not allowed on the site and use aggressive techniques to enforce it. Simply removing the names from a hand history is the cheap/easy thing to do which in turn only hurts the majority while helping the minority.
