Default High Stakes Poker season 1

I'm rewatching some old episodes of HSP and in episode 10 Barry and Daniel are talking about the AA vs KK hand. They say something to the effect of they didn't believe Sammy had the kings since when the king flopped he didn't give a reaction, and it took him like 5 minutes to turn over his hand or something.

That is completely the opposite of what was shown in the actual episode though. Sammy gave a startled cry and asked to run it twice and immediately turns over the kings after the river. Was this spliced in or what? This seems pretty weird. This talk happens during the hand where Antonio just won the hand moving all in on the turn with J6 against Eli.

What's your point? He either misspoke or didn't remember the specific details, not a big deal.

I doubt he intentionally said this knowing what happened to get sympathy, but its a possible angle.

Err I don't really have a point. I find it unlikely Barry or Daniel would misremember a hand like that, and impossible for them both to misremember and nobody chiming in. I assume what they said had to be correct.

However that is COMPLETELY the opposite of what was shown. I'm just curious as to what actually happened, that's all.

sammy says "oh, is that a king?" what barry and daniel said is that sammy didnt show his kings, as it would be proper etiquette to do since he flopped the nuts. barry showed his aces because as far as i know if you're all-in the only time in a cash game you really should definitely show your hand is if you have the nuts. they do say he didnt react to the king though, which they were of course wrong about. it'sn ot a big deal though.

Sammy and I haven't figured out how they edited it to look like he jumped in his seat and let on that he flopped a set. He did quietly say he had Kings before the flop came, but then he stayed emotionless as the flop hit, only asking if I wanted to run it twice. We know that they took out a lot of dead time, but none of us remember the reaction shown on TV.

wow, that's weird that they just added him jumping out of his seat.

it just goes to show you that you can't assume everything on these poker shows goes down exactly as shown, i e-mailed jennifer harman through her site and mentioned the slowroll at the end of that 1outer in last years main event coverage on ESPN, and she replied saying that it was edited to look worse than it was. Seems the producers try to make a lot of extra drama.

Been discussed ad nauseum that it wasn't really a slow-roll. He thought he was hollywooding to put her all-in...not realizing that her bet already set him all-in.

Ironic though that they ended up sitting directly next to each other on the 1st day of the WSOP this year. He busted her AA with 66 after he flopped a set. He's like impending doom to Harman.
